Sweden: Man jailed for murdering his relative after refusing to honour kill his daughters.

(Falun)  A 50 year old Turkish man has been jailed for 12 years after been found guilty of murdering his younger relative after he refused to murder his daughters for being seen in the company of men (They were helping out at a sports venue)

The prosecutor had tried for a life sentence, arguing the murder was honour-related, but Falu District Court said there was not sufficient evidence to prove that beyond reasonable doubt. A request from the prosecutor that the perpetrator should be given a deportation order was also not granted.

It turns out that both men are related to Fadime Sahindal who was murdered by her own father in 2002 after she gave a speech at the Swedish Parliament regards about honour culture and oppression at the hands of male relatives.
