(Madrid) Spanish police today arrested 11 people, including a woman and a minor, who belonged to a “operative [terrorist] cell which intended to carry out an attack in the Catalonia, region of Spain.
This follows on from 8 arrests made last month who were members of jihadist groups and allegedly tried to recruit young Spanish nationals for the Islamic State. The people arrested today came from Morocco, Spain and Paraguay.
Spanish police have reassured the public that there is a minimal risk of a terror attack in the region, the minister added, because the places that “pose a problem” are thoroughly monitored.
