Ramadan Death Count: Round up, 16/06/17

(Kenya) Four people were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack Friday in the northern Kenyan town of Mandera. Fredrick Shisia, Mandera county commissioner, confirmed to local media in Kenya that the four who have been killed were traveling in a commercial matatu (minibus) on a route close to the Kenyan-Somali border. He said police were treating the incident as a terror attack as the Somali-based al-Shabaab militant group has carried out numerous assaults along the porous Kenya-Somali attack in the past.

(India) Six police were killed Friday when rebels fighting against Indian rule ambushed a police vehicle in Kashmir.

(Israel) Israeli police shot and killed two suspected Palestinian assailants after a policewoman was stabbed and killed outside Jerusalem's Old City on Friday.

Ramadan death toll stands at 3,500.
