Lebanon: Move to ban the film Wonder Women because the lead character is a Jew

(Beirut) The latest superhero film from the DC Universe may get banned in Lebanon because Gal Gadot, the actress who plays Wonder Woman, is Jewish.

It appears that the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade has been prompted to “take the necessary measures” to prevent the film from being screened in the country, following calls from the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in Lebanon to ban the screening due to its Israeli lead. BDS Lebanon also took action in April 2016, when the actress played the role in “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” BDS representative Dr. Abdel Malik Sukria sent a letter to Lebanon’s Ministry of Economy and Trade, highlighting Gadot’s service in the Israeli military.
“This actress served in the (Israel Defense Forces) and was crowned the beauty queen of Israel. She also revealed her support for the IDF during the last war in Gaza.”
Having lived in the region, I can bet that even if banned, pirate copies will be on sale across the land.

I must admit I did like Lynda Carter’s version:
