Tunsia: 2nd night of protests see's 49 police officers wounded and 206 arrested.

(Tunis) Since starting with one small protest on Sunday Tunisian demonstrators have defied the threat of a security clampdown  and spilled onto the streets of the capital and at least four other towns for a third night of violent protests fuelled by economic hardship after the government hiked prices of staple goods and introduced new taxes at the start of the year to try to tackle a ballooning deficit and appease foreign lenders.

Late on Tuesday, clashes erupted in more than 20 towns, as protesters attacked police stations and government buildings and torched cars, also hurling petrol bombs at a Jewish school on the southern tourist island of Djerba.
The interior ministry said Wednesday that more than 200 people have been arrested and 49 police officers have been hurt

Tunisia’s official news agency quoted ministry spokesman Belhassen Ouslati as saying that a military vehicle had struck a roadside bomb before coming under attack by militants armed with rifles and rocket propelled grenades. According to Ouslati, three soldiers were killed and another seven injured.

There has been no claim of responsibility for Monday’s attack, which took place in Kasserine’s Mount Sammama region, a terrorist stronghold.

Remember when Kerry praised the Tunisian success story?

November 13, 2015:
Kerry said Tunisia's democracy remained a work in progress but the birthplace of the Arab Spring revolutions was "a shining example to those who claim that democracy is not possible in this part of the world."

Well, given how the Obama admin's praise of an alleged success story is usually followed by carnage with rivers of blood (Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, to name a few), the following comes as no surprise?

Tunisia to build wall on Libyan border

(Tunis) After the murders of 38 holiday makers in the country a fortnight ago, which followed on the steps of another attack on tourists in March where 20 tourists were murdered, the Tunisian government has decided to reduce the risk of attack within its borders by building a 100 mile wall against its eastern neighbour Libya.

I wonder when the Liberals are going to protest that decision?

Tunisian government says to close 80 mosques for inciting violence, after hotel attack

(Tunis) In response to the murderous attack yesterday in Tunisia, the Government has pushed through an edict to close down 80 mosques which are outside state control, which I can only presume are the hotbeds of radicalism behind the mindset of the idiot who murdered so many people yesterday.

Jihadist Attack On Tourist Hotels In Tunisia: 37 killed with 35 wounded.

(Tunisia) Gunmen have attacked a couple of tourist hotels in the Tunisian town of Sousse located 140 kilometres south of the capital Tunis on the Mediterranean coast. At least 37 people have been reported killed along with 1 gunman, according to the Interior Ministry.

British Prime Minster David Cameron has spoken out regards this latest senseless Islamic attack.
"The people who do these things, they sometimes claim that they do it in the name of Islam. They don’t. Islam is a religion of peace. They do it in the name of a twisted and perverted ideology that we have to confront with everything that we have. And we must stop the poisoning of these young minds in our country, in other European countries, and around the world."

Ramadan death toll is now at 1,427.

Leading suspect in Tunisia museum attack killed

Good.
TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — Tunisia’s prime minister says a leading suspect in a deadly museum attack on foreign tourists has been killed in anti-terrorist operations.

State news agency TAP cites Prime Minister Habib Essid as saying that Khaled Chaieb, also known as Abou Sakhr Lokman, was killed overnight in an operation in the Gafsa region near the Algerian border.

Chaieb is believed a prominent militant in al-Qaida’s North African arm, and suspected of leading or helping lead the March 18 attack on the National Bardo Museum.

Najem Gharsalli said Khaled Ben Hamadi Chaieb, also known as Lokman Abou Sakhr, an Algerian, handled the operational end of the March 18 attack. Two gunmen were killed in the attack. Dozens of arrests have been made, five security officials fired and an officer charged with surveying the museum jailed.

Two other Algerians were among nine people killed Saturday by security forces in Gafsa, near the Algerian border, the minister told reporters, saying the leadership of the Okba Ignou Nafaa Brigade, which has killed dozens of security forces, was decimated.

Gharsalli proclaimed the "beginning of the war against terrorism," and revealed that Tunisia has acquired new equipment, "including drones."

Tunisian police end stand off with terrorists, shoot dead 5 women

(Tunis) A lucky arrest of 2 armed men in Tunisia this week quickly resulted in them gleaning the address of their hideout, and when police surrounded it and demanded the occupants quietly surrender it the capital, they were met by a hail of bullets and the Tunisian version of "Come and get me, Copper" which saw 1 policeman killed.

Unlike in the West where the liberals demand we send in negotiators, social workers and in the UK delivery men from KFC, the Tunisians went in guns blazing and were shocked to find the jihadists inside the building were nearly all... women who all fired back. In one case, the female firing back held her infant child in her arms as a shield. 6 dead terrorists later (5 of which were women) the police went home.

While the Tunisians supported their armed forces, the British apologists for Islamic terrorism, the bBC, had this to say:
The killing of five women and the wounding of a child will cast a shadow over Sunday's parliamentary elections, BBC Arab Affairs Editor Sebastian Usher reports.
