Qatar : Drop Hamas sanctions, or we won't buy the F15

(Doha) Oil rich Qatar has warned Congress that pending legislation to sanction Hamas sponsors contains language that “unfairly” targets Doha and could jeopardize a $6.2 billion contract signed in December for 36 F-15s

If the bill by Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., becomes law, would allow the US to slash defence sales and exports and freeze credit or loan guarantees above $10 million to backers of Hamas, which the United States considers a terrorist organization. The chairman and top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee both support the bill, which alleges that Hamas has received “significant financial and military support” from Qatar.

Personally I can't see what the problem is, but hey we are talking abut a country which has become persona non grata with the entire Arab world over its links to...Islamic terrorism. The government and individual Qataris have given financial and political support to two terrorist groups – the Muslim Brotherhood and its Palestinian offshoot, Hamas.

Qatar’s support for the Brotherhood stems from its need to demonstrate its commitment to Islam to avoid becoming a target of extremists, especially given its Western orientation and willingness to host the U.S. military. But in siding with the Brotherhood, Qatar is at odds with other countries – particularly Egypt – that see the group as a threat to their regimes.

In addition to supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar is the principal financier of Hamas, Whilst Qatar claims it only supports economic projects in the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas. The money Qatar funnels to Hamas frees up money that the terrorist group can use to build rockets and terrorist tunnels to threaten Israel.,Moreover, individual Qataris may be providing direct assistance to Hamas. Qatar also has served as a haven for Hamas terrorists such as Khaled Mashaal.

Qatar Expels Hamas Chief Khaled Mashaal and Muslim Brotherhood, Turkey Welcomes Them In

Mashaal and Muslim Brotherhood members given the boot in apparent push by Qatar to repair ties with Egypt.
(INN) As Qatar continues its shift away from the Muslim Brotherhood and its Gaza-offshoot Hamas in favor of stronger ties with Egypt, Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal was expelled from the country on Tuesday along with Muslim Brotherhood members.

Mashaal and the Muslim Brotherhood members are likely on their way to Turkey according to the report, which appeared in a Hamas-run news agency and was cited by CNN.

It was rumored last September that Mashaal was to be expelled from Qatar, rumors which Hamas at the time denied, but which came after Qatar expelled seven senior Muslim Brotherhood members in an effort to close ever growing gaps with Egypt.

For its part Turkey, also a leading sponsor of Hamas like Qatar, said it would welcome the seven leaders.

Qatar has likewise in the past threatened Mashaal with expulsion; last August during Operation Protective Edge, a senior member of the Palestinian Authority (PA) said Hamas chose to breach one of the many ceasefires with Israel due to a Qatari threat to expel Mashaal.

The source reported that Qatar had pushed Hamas to demand it play an active role in Cairo truce talks, a proposal which Egypt refused, stipulating that Qatar apologize for its policies as the leading sponsor of the Muslim Brotherhood. Qatar specifically stated it would force Mashaal to leave if Hamas agreed to the Egyptian truce proposal in its structure at the time.

Likewise last month it was reported that Qatar had informed Hamas it would temporarily cut its funding for the terror group to cultivate ties with Egypt, reports that Hamas denied.

Cutting funding would be part of active steps Qatar has been taking to solidify improved relations with Egypt, after years of tension due to Qatar's support of Muslim Brotherhood.

As part of those steps of rapprochement, Qatari-owned Al-Jazeera news network last month shut down its Egypt channel, easing a source of tension as Egypt has accused the news source of being a mouthpiece for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Just two days earlier, a Qatari envoy met with Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, the first such meeting since he was elected in June.

Qatar's support for Hamas has led to calls to stop Qatar from hosting the World Cup in 2022 unless it ceases its funding of terrorism.

Clinton Foundation, Hamas Share Major Donor

Qatari government gave millions to Clinton group and terror group.
(WFB) The Clinton Foundation and the terror group Hamas share a key donor: The government of Qatar, a leading backer of terror groups that has emerged in recent years as Hamas’ chief financial lifeline.

Qatar, which has been designated by the State Department as a “significant terrorist financing risk,” has pledged more than $400 million to Hamas since 2012 and has long harbored one of the terror group’s senior leaders, Khaled Mashaal.

At the same time, Qatar has sought to curry favor with elite Westerners, donating between $1 million and $5 million through 2013 to the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

The foundation has been dogged by ethical questions over its willingness to accept money from questionable sources, including authoritarian regimes such as Kuwait and Oman.

A Clinton Foundation spokesperson did not respond to a Washington Free Beacon request seeking comment and greater details about Qatar’s donations to the charity.

The Qatari government’s support for Hamas has greatly buoyed the financially troubled group, enabling it to build its terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and wage war against Israel, which has been struck by more than 400 Hamas rockets in the past week.

In the midst of Hamas’ latest rocket attacks on Israel, questions are being raised again about the political and ethical implications of the Clinton Foundation’s willingness—and by dint that of likely presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton—to partner with a government that directly funds Hamas.

Erdogan: Turkey would welcome Muslim Brotherhood figures kicked out of Qatar

ISTANBUL (JPost) - Turkey would welcome senior figures from Egypt's outlawed Muslim Brotherhood after they were asked to leave Qatar under pressure from other Gulf Arab states, Turkish media quoted President Tayyip Erdogan as saying late on Monday.

A senior Brotherhood official based in London said on Saturday that Qatar had asked seven senior figures from the movement to leave the country after its neighbors pressed it to stop backing the Islamists.

Senior Brotherhood figures would be welcome to come to Turkey if they wished to do so, Turkish television stations quoted Erdogan as telling reporters on his plane back from an official visit to Qatar on Monday.

Qatar kicks out Muslim Brotherhood

(Doha) The bad boy of the oil rich gulf states, Qatar, has earned itself a reputation of backing nefarious Islamic organisations, be it rebels in Libya, Hamas in Gaza or ISIS in Syria. It appears that the spoiled little rich boys in Doha are more than happy to spend their petro dollars on any cause which will give them that extra kudos that only the pious can give themselves.

Well, it appears that tiny little Qatar may have started taking notice how nobody else in the region likes them (Saudi Arabia/Egypt/Lebanon/UAE/Iraq/Syria), and so it has told the Muslim Brotherhood leadership, who sought shelter there after they became persona non grata in Egypt, to pack their bags and leave.

Not to worry though, these religious bigots have apparently moved to Londonistan in which to carry out the good work of killing the kuffer.

Egyptian President Says Two of Obama's Friends, Qatar & Turkey, Inciting Chaos In the Middle East

(Breitbart) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said two of the leading state-sponsors of the Muslim Brotherhood terror group -- Qatar and Turkey -- have unloaded millions of dollars in expenditures to incite upheaval in the Middle East.

“Qatar, Turkey and the international organization of the Brotherhood are currently establishing many companies, newspapers, and websites. They allocated hundreds of millions of dollars to spread chaos among the Arab nation, destabilizing Egypt and destroying the Egyptians,” Sisi said in a meeting with Egyptian newspaper heads.

Sisi talked about the role Egypt must have in ensuring the security of a Palestinian state. The Egyptian president has been a consistent critic of terror group Hamas -- the Palestinian arm of the Muslim Brotherhood -- in its governance of the Gaza Strip.

Sisi also denied reports that his country, along with the UAE, was involved in strikes against Islamist entities in neighboring Libya. “Our forces are stationed inside our territories,” he claimed.

US officials said Tuesday that both Egypt and the UAE had secretly conducted air raids inside Libya against Islamist radicals. The officials were upset that the US had no advance notice of the air attack carried out by the two Middle East allies. Some have suspected the two states did not want to inform the US because of souring relations with the Obama administration. The US said in a joint statement with the UK, France, Germany, and Italy: “outside interference in Libya exacerbates current divisions and undermines Libya’s democratic transition.” Newly minted UN envoy to libya, Bernardino Leon, said in a statement, “Any kind of intervention or foreign intervention won’t help Libya get out of chaos.”

Report: Qatar finances ISIS and Hamas

Germany’s development aid minister, Gerd Mueller, on Wednesday accused Qatar of financing the militant group the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“A story like this always has a history,” he said in an interview with public broadcaster ZDF.

“Who is financing these troops? Hint: Qatar,” he added.

Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel this week urged a “debate” about who has been and is financing ISIS, but without naming any countries.

Meanwhile, Germany said it is ready to send weapons to support Iraqi Kurds in their battle against ISIS, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.

It is a controversial issue for Germany which, burdened by its history of aggression in two world wars, has often been reluctant to send troops into foreign conflicts and which as a rule does not send weapons into war zones.
