(Donbas) One of the most common tropes used by the pro-Russian crowd
in which to excuse the invasion of the Ukraine, is that the Ukraine has carried
out a genocide of the Eastern Ukrainians who ceded from Kyiv in 2014. They allege
that the Russians were warranted to jump in to protect the Russian speaking
Ukrainians living in the breakaway regions of Donbas and Luhansk after
suffering artillery attacks these past 8 years resulting in around 17000 deaths
primarily of children. So I looked into the subject at hand and using data from
the UN who culled it from the OSCE (who have been officially monitoring the
region since 2014, I found that the genocide narrative at the hands of the Ukrainians
is nothing more than misinformation. Here is a document issued by the UN 27th January 2022 which reports on the deaths which took place in the contested east of the country between the months of Oct to Dec 2021 (page 1) followed by a synopsis of the death toll from 2014 to 2021:
Broken down that adds up to:
3404 Civilians from both sides (which includes the 298 deaths from MH17)
4400 Ukrainian soldiers
6500 Pro Russian Rebels
those stats can found on the last page as seen here:
As you can see, that so called genocide is non extistant , with the vast majority of deaths (from bothsides I should add) at 3039 (out of a total of 3292) taking place between 2014 and 2015. As mentioned the UN grabbed their statistics from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe who have a dedicated web page where you can glean information regards any set day between 2014 to 2021. An example for the 11th of Feb 2020 can be found here, (PDF file) as you can see it goes into great deapth and detail, hence my use of the UN collective article.
(Kuala Lumpur) On the 17th of July 2014 (MH17) on a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to
Kuala Lumpur that was shot down while flying over eastern Ukraine, killing all
283 passengers and 15 crew on board. The
investigation that followed revealed hard evidence that the missile used was a Buk
missile system, transported from Russia into the separatist part of eastern Ukraine.
From the get go, the Russians have obstructed the investigation; initially they
stated that the Ukrainians fired the missile, and then they tried pushing the view that a Ukrainian Su 25 shot down MH17. (The problem there is the SU 25 is
a ground attack aircraft and not fitted to carry air to air missiles.) Also there exists damning video evidence of a
surface to air launch and the actual wreckage of the missile used, a missile
that could only come from a Buk Anti-aircraft missile system.
In October 2015,
the Dutch Safety Board concluded the plane had been hit by a Buk missile,
causing it to break apart in mid-air. The Dutch-led joint investigation team
(JIT)- which includes officials from the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium,
Malaysia and Ukraine - concluded in May 2018 that the missile system belonged
to the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile brigade, based in the western Russian city of
Kursk. It produced evidence that it said proved how the missile system had
reached eastern Ukraine.
Naturally the Russians have slated the finding stating they that they reject the findings of the JIT
which were "aimed at discrediting the Russian Federation in the eyes of
the international community". But what was really surprising is that Mahathir Mohamad, the Prime Minister of
Malaysia , the country the plane that was shot down belonged to has parroted the very same line as the Russians.
"Blaming Russia for the shooting down of flight MH17 has always been the “script” of an international political plot to attack the country"
That got me thinking why would he
go down that line. A quick check and it works out that Russia has been
throwing a lot of money at Malaysia these past few years:
On the 15th March 2016, a Russian-Malaysian business council was
established with the intent to strengthen cooperation on economic, scientific,
technological issues and culture.
On the 20th May 2016 a bilateral meetingbetween Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Russian President Putin explored the possibility of negotiating for a free trade
agreement (FTA) between Malaysia with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in
which Russia was among the leading countries. They also looked at direct
flights between Malaysia and Russia as well as Russia supplying Malaysia with
weapons
On the 22nd of Feb 2018 Russia opened its second Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) branch
office in the country, the first was opened in 1981.
Funny enough trade between the two countries has also risen in 2012 it was $1.769 billion , by 2016 it had risen to $2.19 billion in 2016.
When Prime Minister (PM) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met with President Putin last November they they discussed how there had been significant increase in bilateral
trade of over 60% in the last eight months.
Hey I'm not saying the PM of Malaysia has been bought off by Moscow, but for him to come right out and defend the Russians when all the evidence points at them does raise a lot of questions.
(Chemodanovka) So last week tensions between Roma people and Russian villagers in the region of Penza ended up in a deadly brawl which saw 1 Russian killed, and a number injured after native Russians complained about their womenfolk being sexually harassed by the Roma. This was followed by arson attacks and the forced evictions of hundreds of Roma people to the city of Volgograd.
This was followed by arson attacks
and the forced evictions of around 900 Roma people to the city of Volgograd.
Governor Ivan Belozertsev, tried to relieve tensions, by blaming the US.
“America, the west, has poured enormous amounts of money into preparing people here … they’re in every region, including ours, and they don’t want to solve problems, they want to destabilise the situation. They bring fake information here,”
He then followed that up by banning the sale of Alcohol.
(Moscow) On the diplomatic front Russia hasn't been having a good week or so. After the poisoning of a former Russian citizen in the UK using a very rare nerve agent only used by the Russians, over 130 of its diplomats have been sent packing back home. Oh Moscow has protested its innocence , claiming that the Uk was behind the use of the nerve agent, yet its past behaviour regards the assassination of former Russian citizens abroad, its belligerent nature towards western nations and of course the annexation of the Crimea was more than enough for so many western nations to say enough is enough.
Well Russia has decided to react and today they expelled 60 Americans from Russia and closed down the American consulate in St Petersburg. The irony here is Moscow and its western based sycophants appear to have forgotten that actually all of this started with Moscow, even if the Skripal poisoning hadn't had taken place, the fact remains the belligerent nature of Russia these past few years was lacking a response. As we saw in 1939 with Adolph Hitler, appeasing a rouge nation only leads to greater pain in the future, funny enough its supporters continue to play the line that Russia defeated the Nazis and we own them big-style. What they leave out of that statement is, if it wasn't for Russia Hitler wouldn't have started WW2 in the first place. Kind of explains how Moscow invaded Poland 2 weeks after Hitler did and then carved it in two. Hitler knowing Stalin had his back invaded France and the low countries in 1940.
(Moscow) Much has been said of the Russian propaganda machine where Putins foot soldiers have have used the internet in which to promote his cause. The latest attempt has been this tweet from the Russian Ministry of defence which shows irrefutable proof that the US has been providing top cover for ISIS inside Syria:
data-lang="en-gb">
#RusMoD shows irrefutable evidence that US are actually covering ISIS combat units to recover their combat capabilities, redeploy, and use them to promote the American interests in the Middle East https://t.co/jcb7G4MAfZpic.twitter.com/VIMjfFGJEg
(Washington) A Russian-operated fake Facebook page that had 268,000
followers made dubious claims during the 2016 election under the guise of an
already established Muslim group in the US in which to shit stir.
The group, United Muslims of America, posted content that
said Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton “created, funded and
armed” al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) group. It also said that Senator
John McCain helped found IS, and that Osama bin-Laden was in cahoots with the
CIA, according to the report. Even though much of the Facebook page's content
largely posted positive memes of Muslims, it sometimes veered into fake news
such as "Support Hillary. Save American Muslims", after conflicted
gay Muslim killed 49 people in an Orlando nightclub.
The Daily Beast which broke this story states that the
Kremlin-backed internet trolls created a fake Facebook group called “United
Muslims of America” and then used it to stir the proverbial pot for months. While
the Russians’ use of imposter accounts is well noted, this is one of the first
known instances where they impersonated an actual organization.
The real UMA is a California-based non-profit that promotes
interfaith dialogue and political participation. Though it’s over 30 years old,
it’s currently “not functional,” according to its most recent president, and is
in the midst of an organizational rebuild. In the past, the group hosted events
with numerous members of Congress, including Democrats Andre Carson and
Swalwell, both of whom serve on the House intelligence committee investigating
Trump-Russia ties, and Republican Ed Royce, the chairman of the House foreign
affairs committee.
