Cameroon: Grenade attack on refuge camp sees 15 killed.

(Modzogo) Terrorists from the Islamist group Boko Haram killed at least 15 people and wounded six others in a grenade attack in northern Cameroon on Sunday. The unidentified assailants threw a grenade into a group of people inside a camp for displaced people in the commune of Mozogo near the Nigerian border in the Far North region.

But here is where the story takes a so called liberal own goal. Apparently until 3 weeks ago the Cameroon army had been asking the displaced residents of the camp to help with security, by keeping watch and if they spotted armed Boko Haram terrorists approaching the camp they were to run back to camp and inform them of the approaching thugs.  But Human Rights watch decided to stick their nose in and by playing the victim card regards asking the refugee camp residents to help with security, the army stopped this practice and today 15 people are dead.

4 Boko Haram suicide bombers, including 3 women, kill 4 civilians in Cameroon

(Reuters) Four civilians were killed in northern Cameroon on Saturday in a suicide bomb assault by suspected Boko Haram militants in which three female attackers and one man blew themselves up, security sources said.

The attack on the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, is the latest of many the Islamist militant group has mounted in Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria this year. The U.N. refugee agency said last month the attacks were turning the border region near Lake Chad into a war zone.

"The first kamikaze detonated his bomb in the house of the traditional chief of Leymarie. Five people died including the bomber," said a senior Cameroonian military official who declined to be named. Leymarie forms part of Nigue.

"Several minutes later, three female bombers exploded their bombs close to the initial site but they didn't kill anyone else because they acted too quickly," the official said, adding that around a dozen people were also wounded.

Northern Cameroon announces ban on burkas and face veils

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (AP) — Cameroon's north region has banned women from wearing burkas and face-covering veils after suicide bombings by females in burkas killed at least 14 people in a northern town on Sunday, a government official said Wednesday.

The region has also banned Muslims from meeting in large groups without permission, as the end of Ramadan nears, said Midjiyawa Bakari, governor of Cameroon's Far North Region.

"No one suspected them and that is why we have ordered women to stop wearing veils and the police and military to arrest all women wearing veils," he said of the Sunday attacks. It was first reported that two bombs were planted, but President Paul Biya has announced that investigations found the explosions were launched by two women wearing burkas.

"We are also systematically checking all vehicles, and controlling all luggage and the population should collaborate because there is a serious security threat to our nation," said governor Bakari.
