Pakistani army continues offensive against the Taliban

(Islamabad) The Pakistani army has continued with its march into the lawless Pakistani tribal areas next to the border with Afghanistan after the Pakistani Taliban who base themselves there decided to launch an attack on Karachi airport on the 8th June 2014 which saw 26 people killed, 10 terrorists and 18 people wounded.

The Pakistani air-force kicked off this latest round of intervention by the Pakistani Government against the warlords in the lawless tribal regions of Pakistan by launching numerous air-strikes on the very same targets in the very same region that the US has been doing with its drone strikes, resulting in the deaths of 100s of gun totting peaceful militants (well, they are when the US takes them out). These were followed up by a ground offensive by thousands of troops in which to teach the Pakistani Taliban a lesson. However, and a big however, the Pakistani military really has no gripe against the Taliban (whom they see as part of their armed forces) and no doubt, like countless other offensives in the region, the army will get bogged down and will (to much fanfare) sign yet another hudna (peace deal) with the Taliban and walk away happy until the next terrorist atrocity.

Meanwhile, due to the fighting, 137,856 people have become displaced and have left for pastures new.
