When is a paedophile not a paedophile? When he's a Muslim as reported by the BBC.

(London) In the UK, at the moment there is a lot of embarrassed faces at the bBC over how for over 40 years, radio and TV stars raped little girls and got away with it. Not only that but it transpires that the bBC may have covered up these crimes in which to save its reputation.

Anyway, the term paedophile is getting banded about something rotten. Funny enough, the bBC (and the left) are trying to put the blame on Maggie Thatcher because she invited Jimmy Saville over for one Christmas,  and so she is automatically guilty of covering up his peccadilloes. Funny enough, what the left don't mention is Maggie was in power from 1979 to 1991. Jimmy Saville worked at the bBC as a DJ and TV star from 1964 to 1994.

Anyway, my eye was caught to another story of a gang of evil paedophiles jailed today on the bBC news web site, and that got me thinking. In all of its reporting of Islamic rapist sex gangs (and we have have seen plenty these past few years) not once did I see the bbC refer to the followers of Islam as... paedophiles. So I did a search on the bBC news website, and guess what, I was right - in over a year of reporting, the bBC does not refer to Islamic sex gangs of being... paedophiles.

Oh, we have sex gangs (Derby sex gang convicted of grooming and abusing girls), child sex offences (Telford brothers convicted of child sex offences jailed), child rape (Rochdale grooming gang leader gets 22 years) and sexual exploitation (Sexual exploitation 'very widespread').

But paedophile? Never.

And people tell me the bBC isn't biased.

Pakistani girl shot by Taliban arrives in the UK

(London) Young 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai, shot in the head by the Taliban for blogging that she wanted an education, arrived in London today for medical treatment she couldn't receive in her own country.

What makes this story even more damning is that Pakistan not only has more nuclear warheads than the UK, more front-line modern fighter jets and more main battle tanks than the UK, but the UK gives Pakistan £1 billion in aid each and every year. Not only that but the present British Government intends to increase the money it gives to Islamabad.

Yet for all the money Pakistan receives from the West, instead of spending it on the people (roads, hospitals, houses, etc.) they squander it on weapons. So much for being a religion of peace. The thing is, each and every Islamic country spends more money on weapons than it does its own people. Must be why the biggest export to the West from these countries are their own citizens.

Muslims tied to violence directed at Jews in France

SARCELLES, France (AP) — The gunshots outside a synagogue and the grenade that shattered the windows of a kosher grocery spread fear into the streets – but caused little surprise.

Jews across France say anti-Semitic threats have escalated since a deadly assault on a Jewish school in the southwestern town of Toulouse this spring. The attack on the grocery store in the Paris suburb of Sarcelles and the shooting outside the synagogue in nearby Argenteuil came in late September.

In all cases, police suspect Muslim extremists. The Toulouse attacker was a Frenchman trained by Islamist terrorists.

Anti-terrorist police killed one man and arrested 11 in raids this month against an Islamist cell suspected in the Sarcelles attack.

French Jews believe the danger comes from radical messages that appeal to young Muslims in France who are unemployed, angry, alienated and looking for someone to blame.

France has struggled to address the problem head-on because of the social sensitivities.

President Francois Hollande has promised the head of an umbrella group of Muslim organizations that the government would not stigmatize all Muslims for anti-Semitic acts committed by a radical fringe.

Interior Minister Manuel Valls urged respect for all religions in a country that has Western Europe’s largest Jewish and Muslim communities. France has about 5 million Jews and 500,000 Muslims.

“These are not terrorist networks that come from outside. They are from our neighborhoods,” Mr. Valls said on the TF1 television network.

Car bombs, shootings kill 8 in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) – A string of insurgent attacks including three car bombs in an ethnically divided northern city killed eight people across Iraq on Tuesday, police said.

Brig. Gen. Sarhad Qadir, police commander of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, said back-to-back detonations of a parked car bomb and a roadside bomb in a parking lot near the provincial council building killed one civilian and injured 15.

Another parked car bomb went off in a residential area in the same city and wounded five civilians, he added.

A third car bomb struck a passing police patrol near Kirkuk, killing two policemen and wounding three others, according to Qadir.

Kirkuk, 180 miles (290 kilometers) north of Baghdad, is home to a combustible mix of Kurds, Sunni Arabs and Turkomen who all claim rights to the city.

Earlier, gunmen in a speeding car attacked an Iraqi army check point in the city of Tuz Khormato outside Kirkuk, killing two soldiers and injuring two others, Qadir said. Tuz Khormato is located 130 miles (210 kilometers) north of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, police said gunmen fatally shot two brothers who are members of the anti-al-Qaida group known as Sahwa, after breaking into their house in Samarra, 95 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad.

Syria: Aleppo's Great Mosque burned down, Korans torn apart in fighting

BEIRUT (AP) — Syrian President Bashar Assad ordered on Monday immediate repairs to a historic mosque in the city of Aleppo, a move likely aimed at containing Muslim outrage after fierce fighting between rebels and regime forces set parts of the mosque on fire over the weekend.

Government troops had been holed up inside the 12th century Umayyad mosque, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in downtown Aleppo for several months before rebels fighting to topple Assad launched a push to liberate it this week.

Activist Mohammad al-Hassan said the army had been using the mosque as a base because of its strategic location in the center of the old city of Aleppo.

"It's all blackened now," he said of the mosque, speaking by phone from Aleppo.

But wait, there is more:

Videos posted by activists online show a large fire and black smoke raging inside the mosque on Saturday, and later, its blackened, pockmarked walls. Debris is strewn on the floors where worshippers once prayed on green and gold carpeting.

The videos are consistent with AP's own reporting on the incident.

"Assad's thugs set the mosque on fire as a punishment for being defeated by the Free Syrian Army," the caption on one video read, referring to the rebels fighting to topple Assad. The government on Monday said it pushed back the rebels from the mosque after the weekend fighting, though activists are giving conflicting reports on who controls it.

In another video, a rebel inside the mosque holds up a torn copy of the Muslim holy book, or Quran, saying: "These are our Qurans, this is our religion, our history."

Buddhist monks march in Myanmar to thwart plans to open Organisation of Islamic Cooperation office

YANGON (Reuters) - Thousands of Buddhist monks marched in Myanmar's two biggest cities on Monday to protest against efforts by the world's biggest Islamic body to help Rohingya Muslims involved in deadly communal clashes four months ago.

The monks, a potent political force in the predominantly Buddhist country, denounced plans by the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to set up a liaison office in northwest Rakhine state, where violence erupted in June between ethnic Buddhist Rakhines and Rohingyas.

Just hours after the monks dispersed, President Thein Sein's office announced it would not permit an OIC representation in Myanmar. It was not immediately clear if the announcement was linked to the protests or had been planned in advance.

"The government will not allow the opening of an OIC office as it is not in accordance with the desire of people," said a statement posted on its website.

The monks were joined by ordinary citizens in Yangon and Mandalay. Some carried placards with the words "get out OIC", and "no OIC" and said they would hold demonstrations until the government agreed to their demands.

Report: Syria using cluster bombs

BEIRUT (AP) — The Syrian regime was accused Sunday of dropping cluster bombs — indiscriminate scattershot munitions banned by most nations — in a new sign of desperation and disregard for its own people.

The international group Human Rights Watch cited amateur video and testimony from the front lines in making the allegation against the government of President Bashar Assad.

Syria and Turkey, meanwhile, declared their skies off-limits to each other amid mounting cross-border tensions in Syria’s 19-month-old conflict, now a civil war. Turkey is an outspoken backer of rebels trying to oust Assad.

Muslim Soccer Players Refuse to Wear Non-Sharia Compliant Shirts

(FPM) This is the Target cashier/Muslim taxi driver problem all over again where Muslims don’t just practice their religion, but impose its mandates on others by refusing to do their job and perform services for non-Muslims whom they consider to be violating Islamic law.

The story is Wonga, a UK version of a Payday loan operator, struck a deal with Newscastle United, a soccer team, to have the Wonga logo on their shirt. The Muslim Council of Britain has announced that Wonga is not Sharia compliant and at least four Muslim Newscastle players may refuse to wear the shirts.

But that raises the question of what logos Muslim players can wear? Any chain that sells ham and liquor would be out. So would any company that does business with Israel. So would any company with defense ties. So would any financial institution that engages in non-Sharia compliant finance. So would any company that uses spokeswomen who don’t wear Hijabs. So would any company that sells chess sets or kites. Or shaving kits.

In practice the list goes on nearly forever and allows Muslims to reject access to nearly any sort of company. Picking Wonga is a strategic maneuver, because like many Payday lenders it’s disliked by people other than Muslims, but the idea that Sharia objections stop at Wonga and don’t extend to any other company is wrong. Once the precedent has been set, it can be extended, and Muslim soccer players, like all Muslims, are being used as the tools of enforcing Islamic law on a non-Islamic land.

As a mark of cynicism, prior to its sponsorship by Wonga, Newscastle was sponsored by Virgin Money, which is exactly what you think it is, run exactly by who you think it is. The devout Muslim players seemed to have no problem with Virgin Money, but perhaps they were under the impression it had something to do with their religion’s 72 virgins.

State Dept. Confirms: Marines on 9/11/12 Were Protecting U.S. Embassy--in Barbados

(CNSNews.com) -- When terrorists attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11 of this year and killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans, there were no U.S. Marines deployed in Libya to defend U.S. diplomats, diplomatic facilities and classified information and equipment.

However, says the State Department, a Marine Security Detachment was deployed on that day to carry out those duties at the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados.

“U.S. Marine Security Guards serve at the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, and at other diplomatic missions around the world, to protect and safeguard American diplomacy,” Rebecca Ross, the U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Counselor for Public Affairs, said in a statement to CNSNews.com.

“On September 11, 2012, our U.S. Marine Security Detachment carried out its regular duties which include providing internal security, preventing the compromise of classified information and equipment, and providing protection for U.S. citizens and property located within official U.S. facilities,” Ross said.

And... Priorities: Chevy Volts in Europe Trump Embassy Security in Benghazi

Before the September 11^th attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, which left four Americans dead, there were more than 230 security incidents between June 2011 and July 2012. After the October 2011 rebellion that overthrew Qaddafi, which ended his four-decade long authoritarian rule over the country, Libya became a security vacuum -- a problem “much bigger than a few rogue militants" and one that Amb. Stevens discussed in his personal journal found at the site. In it he talked about the security threats in the country - particularly in Benghazi - and the rise of Islamic extremism, the growing presence of al-Qaeda in Libya and that he believed he was on an al-Qaeda hit list.

As the events leading up to the attack in Libya came to light we learned that despite the tenuous situation in post-Qaddafi Libya, “the State Department did not include Libya on a list of dangerous postings that are high priority for extra security resources.” We also know that requests were made for additional security but that the State Department denied those requests (an issue Joe Biden lied about during the debate).

To make matters worse, it seems the State Department put green energy investments ahead of embassy and personnel security in dangerous countries. Investors.com has the details:

What Biden was denying was pointed out by Eric Nordstrom during his testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform last Wednesday. Nordstrom, a regional security officer of the U.S. Mission to Libya from September 2011 to July 2012, said that, among other things, he was told in a phone call in July that the deployment of the site security team, a 16-member American military unit based in Tripoli, could not be prolonged.

According to Nordstrom, the State Department not only refused his requests for greater security, but also actually reduced the number of Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agents assigned to foreign service officers based in Libya. Security was left to one DSS agent, four armed members of the 17th of February Martyrs Brigade and unarmed Libyan contractors employed by the British-based Blue Mountain Group.

In a May 3, 2012, email on which Ambassador Stevens was copied, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. Embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC-3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.

And now for the even more disturbing part about where the Obama administration placed their priorities:

Four days after the use of an ancient DC-3, along with other security requests, was being denied, on May 7, 2012, the State Department authorized the U.S. Embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric-vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool's new Chevrolet Volts.

As Rep. Mike Kelly points out in a Washington Times op-ed, the purchase was a part of the State Department's "Energy Efficiency Sweep of Europe" initiative, which included hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on green program expenditures at various U.S. embassies.

At a May 10 gala held at the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, the ambassador showcased his new Volts and other green investments as part of the U.S. government's commitment to "climate change solutions." The event posting on the embassy website read: "Celebrating the Greening of the Embassy."

As Katie pointed out earlier this week, the Obama administration has a “laser-like” focus on climate change as it is, but this revelation is truly unbelievable.

To discuss this event is apparently to “politicize” it and to distract from the real issues the American people are concerned about. For example, Obama spokesperson Jen Psaki, speaking on board Air Force One on Thursday: “There’s only one candidate in this race who is going to continue to fight for Big Bird and Elmo, and he is riding on this plane.”

She’s right! The United States is the first nation in history whose democracy has evolved to the point where its leader is provided with a wide-body transatlantic jet in order to campaign on the vital issue of public funding for sock puppets. Sure, Caligula put his horse in the senate, but it was a real horse. At Ohio State University, the rapper will.i.am introduced the president by playing the Sesame Street theme tune, which oddly enough seems more apt presidential-walk-on music for the Obama era than “Hail to the Chief.”

Obviously, Miss Cutter is right: A healthy mature democracy should spend its quadrennial election on critical issues like the Republican party’s war on puppets rather than attempting to “politicize” the debate by dragging in stuff like foreign policy, national security, the economy, and other obscure peripheral subjects.

Obama Has Strong Lead Over Romney Among Arab Americans

(VOA) The Arab American Institute has released the results of a September survey of 400 Arab Americans, which shows that a majority support Democratic President Barack Obama in the race for the White House. There has been a significant 15 percent drop in support for Obama compared with his strong numbers in 2008, but Republicans are not making gains with Arab American voters either.

There is good news and bad news for President Barack Obama in a recent poll of Arab American voters conducted by the Arab American Institute. AAI President Jim Zogby said the president enjoys a 24 percentage point leader over his Republican challenger, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

"In this particular election, in the head-to-head between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, the president has a substantial 52 percent to 28 percent lead. There are about 5 percent voting for minority candidates and about 16 percent who are not sure," said Zogby.

Obama sends US troops to Jordan to secure border with Syria

Troops to secure Jordanian with Syria — yes. Troops to secure US border with Mexico — no.

On Wednesday, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that the United States was sending a small contingent of troops to Jordan in the event that the conflict in Syria spreads across the country’s border as it has with Turkey. Even if it doesn’t, the Obama Administration is right to be extremely concerned with how events in Syria might affect its longstanding and reliable Middle East ally in Amman.

Should King Abdullah II become the next Arab ruler to fall as part of the upheavals that have swept through the region now for almost two years, it will mark another major setback for the United States in the region. For Israel it’s significantly worse news. Jerusalem would lose its remaining strategic partner in the region—having already lost Turkey and Egypt—and face a possible nightmare on its longest border, exposing the country’s center to attacks from the east that might include Sunni Jihadists or Iranian-trained Iraqi agents.

DNC field director fired after being caught on camera telling people how to vote for Obama twice

HOUSTON - A Democratic National Committee field director has been fired after her suspicious actions were caught on camera.

Conservative group Project Veritas said they sent an undercover reporter pretending to be registered in both Texas and Florida to the Houston headquarters of Organizing for America.

In the video, the woman asks the regional field director, Stephanie Caballero, how to cast ballots in both states to help President Barack Obama.

Hours after the video was posted online by the group, Caballero was fired by the DNC.

"There is obviously a history here of making selective use of taped material, and we will certainly not vouch for the completeness of what was released. However, what we saw was enough for us to take the action that we did," said Melanie Roussell with the DNC.

The news comes as a blow to supporters of the president who went to the Houston OFA office Friday and found it locked up and no one inside.

"I'm disappointed we're not working. I want to be working for the campaign. I want it to get started again," said Susan Wegner, who volunteers with OFA.

Arab Lawyers Union grants its highest honor to Palestinian suicide bomber

When you read things like this, you have to wonder what kind of peace Israel is expected to make with these "people".

(JPost) The Arab Lawyers Union [ALU] on Friday honored the Palestinian woman who carried out the 2003 suicide bombing at Maxim's Restaurant in Haifa by awarding her the highest decoration to ever be granted by the union.

Twenty-one people were killed and 51 injured in the attack, which was carried out by Hanadi Jaradat, a law student from Jenin who was due to qualify as a lawyer in a few weeks.

She was the sixth female suicide bomber during the second intifida.

The Cairo-based union, which represents lawyers from 15 Arab countries, dispatched a delegation to the home of Hanadi Jaradat in Jenin to present them with the award.

Ayman Abu Eisheh, member of the Palestine Committee at the ALU, said that the decision to honor the female suicide bomber was made during a meeting in Cairo last month.

Abu Eisheh was among the lawyers who visited Jaradat's family.

He said that the delegation relayed to the family greetings from the head of the ALU, Omar al-Zein, and head of the Palestine Committee, Sayed Abdel Ghani.

Abu Eisheh said that the Arab lawyers were proud of what Jaradat did "in defense of Palestine and the Arab nation."

Nigeria: 4 students burned alive on accusations of being thieves

(France 24) Four students from the University of Port Harcourt, in southern Nigeria, were burned alive Friday by locals who accused them of being thieves. A horrific video of the scene has since surfaced online, angering their classmates, some of whom reportedly decided to get revenge by setting fire to the part of town where the young men were killed.

According to the Nigerian press, the four killed students were second-year undergraduates whom local residents in the Aluu neighbourhood of Port Harcourt accused of stealing a laptop computer and a Blackberry phone. A friend of the victims, meanwhile, told the BBC that they had gone to Aluu to try to collect money they were owed, and were mistaken for thieves.

The three-and-a-half minute video, which the police are using as part of their investigation, shows four young men lying on the ground, completely naked, with tyres around their necks. An angry mob beats them with sticks before setting them on fire.

Israel kills al-Qaeda-tied leader of Gaza terrorist group

GAZA (Reuters) - An Israeli air strike killed the Palestinian leader of an al Qaeda-affiliated group in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, Hamas and medical sources said.

Gaza Medics said a second militant was also killed in the strike. The after-dark attack targeted the two men who were riding a motorcycle in the northern town of Jabaliya.

The interior ministry of Hamas, the Islamist group that controls Gaza, said one of the men killed was Hisham Al-Saedni, also known as Abu Al-Waleed Al-Maqdissi, believed to head the Jihadist Salafi group Tawhid and Jihad (One God and Holy War).

Hezbollah’s CFO flees to Israel carrying stolen money, classified documents

(Al Arabiya) Hezbollah’s CFO has fled to Israel taking with him large sum of stolen money, classified documents and maps, local news media reported on Friday.

The news website, Now Lebanon, cited Hezbollah officials saying that the 29-year old telecommunication engineer, Hussein Fahs, has crossed to Israel carrying with him $5 million in embezzled money from the group. Fahs is also head of Hezbollah’s operational communications network.

Libyagate: Obama administration entrusted Islamist militia with Benghazi consulate security

(Townhall) Imagine, pre-9/11/12, that you were responsible for arranging the defense of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Would you have considered American interests and personnel best protected by bringing in a local security outfit called the February 17 Martyrs Brigade?

The question has yet to come up in House hearings, but I think it holds the key to the Obama administration's betrayal of the American people in "Benghazi-gate." To an American with common sense not subverted by advanced degrees, the thought of putting Islamic "martyrs" in charge of American "infidels" in Benghazi -- which, fun fact, literally means "city of holy warriors" -- would trigger the inevitable "heck, no." And that's without even knowing what is significant about Feb. 17.

But I'm talking about Washington, D.C. Here, placing the lives of Americans in the hands of a thug-army linked to multiple atrocities and drawn from jihad-epicentral eastern Libya disturbs no collective brain wave. No matter that Benghazi and nearby Derna sent more men, per capita, to Iraq to kill Americans than anywhere else in the world. As far as the Obama administration is concerned, putting local boys in barracks inside the consulate compound was a great idea. Why not? President Obama's ambassador, the late Christopher Stevens, was, as they say, "reaching out" across the jihad spectrum on official business.

Meanwhile, Ansar al Sharia ("Supporters of Islamic Law"), the al-Qaida-linked militia believed to have led the consulate assault in September, is a spinoff of the February 17 Martyrs Brigade, but that didn't scratch the lacquered political surface, either. And even as reports remind us of ties among February 17 Martyrs Brigade leadership, the Muslim Brotherhood and the web of jihad-poison spun by Qatar's Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Libya's Ali al-Salabi -- the latter having been tapped by the Qatari dictatorship to distribute $2 billion to Libyan "rebels" -- the focal point remains elsewhere.

Israeli air strike kills one Palestinian terrorist, critically wounds another one in Gaza after rocket attack

GAZA (Reuters) - An Israeli air strike killed one Palestinian militant and critically wounded another riding a motorcycle in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, Palestinian medics and the Israeli military said.

A statement from the Israeli military said the two men targeted were "terror operatives of the Hashora Council of the Mujahideen, a Gaza-based Global Jihad affiliate."

No militant group in Gaza claimed the two men as members, but the Hashora Council of the Mujahideen did claim responsibility for a rocket that was fired into Israel on Friday and that landed near a house in the Israeli town of Netivot.

The rocket caused damage but no casualties.

In response, a few hours later, the Israeli military launched three air strikes against what it said were "terror activity sites". There were no casualties reported in those attacks.

Turkish armed forces consist of 657,985 active duty, 378,700 reserve and 152,200 paramilitary personnel, and yet Turkey demands other countries' intervention into Syria.

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan rebuked the U.N. Security Council for inaction over Syria on Saturday, saying the world body was repeating mistakes that led to massacres in Bosnia in the 1990s.

President Bashar al-Assad's forces used air strikes and artillery to bombard insurgents on several fronts in Syria, as the 19-month-old conflict risks dragging in regional powers.

Turkey is increasingly entangled after intercepting a Syrian airliner carrying what it said were Russian-made munitions for the Syrian army, infuriating Moscow and Damascus. It has led calls for intervention, including no-fly zones enforced by foreign aircraft to stop deadly air raids by Assad's forces.

But there is little chance of U.N. support for robust action. China insists any solution to Syria's crisis must come from within while Russia has said many Syrians still support Assad. Western nations meanwhile are loath to commit to any military action that could touch off a regional sectarian war.

"The U.N. Security Council has not intervened in the human tragedy that has been going on in Syria for 20 months, despite all our efforts," Erdogan told a conference in Istanbul attended by leaders including Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby. "There's an attitude that encourages, gives the green light to Assad to kill tens or hundreds of people every day."

Mali Islamists step up threats as France pushes for war

BAMAKO (Reuters) - Al Qaeda-linked Islamists in Mali threatened on Saturday to "open the doors of hell" for French citizens if France kept pushing for a war to retake the rebel-held north.

The renewed threats against French hostages and expatriates came ahead of a summit of French-speaking nations in Congo, where President Francois Hollande was expected to urge the rapid deployment of an African-led force to rout the Islamists.

The U.N. Security Council called on Friday for an intervention plan to be drawn up within 45 days after passing a French-drafted resolution to revive attempts to end the crisis.

"If he continues to throw oil on the fire, we will send him the pictures of dead French hostages in the coming days," said Oumar Ould Hamaha, a spokesman for Islamist group MUJWA, in an apparent reference to four French nationals seized in neighboring northern Niger in 2010.

"He will not be able to count the bodies of French expatriates across West Africa and elsewhere," Hamaha said by telephone.

Al-Qaeda leader urges holy war against US and Israel

CAIRO (AP) – The leader of Al Qaeda is encouraging Muslims to wage holy war against the United States and Israel in response to a film that insulted Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

Ayman al-Zawahri, in an audio message released by Al Qaeda’s media arm As-Sahab early Saturday, claimed Washington allowed the film’s production under the pretext of freedom of expression, but added that “this freedom did not prevent them from torturing Muslim prisoners.”

The crudely-produced amateur film, "Innocence of Muslims," which was posted to YouTube and other online forums, was made by an Egyptian-born American citizen. The video sparked violence in the Middle East, including in Egypt and Libya, where Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others were killed on Sept. 11 during an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. Dozens more have also been killed in violence related to the film.

In Saturday’s audio recording, Al-Zawahri praised "honest and zealous" demonstrators who breached the U.S Embassy in Cairo and attackers who stormed the U.S. "embassy" in Benghazi.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - A suicide bomber in a car blew himself up at a market in northwest Pakistan on Saturday, killing at least 14 people, officials said.

The target of the attack in the town of Darra Adam Khel appeared to be members of a pro-government militia created to fight Taliban militants, the officials said, adding that the death toll may rise because 25 people were wounded and several were in critical condition.

Pakistan's military, one of the biggest in the world, has launched several offensives against the Taliban and other militant groups seeking to topple the U.S.-backed government.

But the operations, which have focused on Taliban strongholds in the unruly ethnic Pashtun tribal belt along the border with Afghanistan, failed to break the back of militant networks.

That is one reason why the government began encouraging tribesmen to revive traditional militias to take on the Taliban and rally their community behind the state.

But those militias frequently come under attack by the Taliban and the militia drive has had limited success.

The bombing destroyed 15 shops and eight vehicles, said senior regional government official Sahibzada Anees.

Syrian rebels threaten to attack Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

Wouldn't that be a fun thing to watch?

(The Independent) The Free Syrian Army today threatened to “teach a lesson” to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah by hitting targets in the Lebanese capital as two suicide bombers in vehicles laden with explosives struck a regime intelligence building in Damascus.

In what would constitute a devastating setback to attempts to contain the Syrian civil war, Fahad al Masri, a spokesman for the FSA Joint Command, said rebels would strike Hezbollah in its stronghold in Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahiyeh if the group’s fighters backing President Bashar al-Assad’s forces are not withdrawn immediately.

“If Hezbollah do not stop helping the Assad regime, we will teach Hassan Nasrallah a big lesson inside his area in Beirut,” he told The Independent. “We know how to find him and all the other criminal Hezbollah leaders. I don’t advise Hassan Nasrallah to test our military experience or our knowledge.”

Hillary says US must embrace Arab Spring and don't pay attention to jihad waged against us

Clinton, seeking to reinforce the Obama administration's Middle East policy following a wave of anti-American violence and last month's deadly attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, said Washington cannot be deterred by "the violent acts of a small number of extremists."

"We recognize that these transitions are not America's to manage, and certainly not ours to win or lose," Clinton said in a speech to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Opponents and supporters of Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi clashed in Cairo on Friday in the first street violence between rival factions since the Islamist leader took office.

Islamists and their opponents threw stones, bottles and petrol bombs, and some fought hand-to-hand, showing how feelings still run high between the rival groups trying to shape the new Egypt after decades of autocracy, although the streets have generally been calmer since Mursi's election in June.

The Health Ministry said 110 people had sustained light to moderate injuries, state media reported.

The Edge of Panic

(Ricochet) Last night's performance by Biden – capering, giggling, near-maniacal opera buffa – was targeted in one place: a dispirited, demoralized Democratic base on the edge of panic.

Paul Ryan was businesslike, steady, and on-point. He hit solid doubles all night, and that's all he needed to do. If he'd been as amped and manic as Biden, it would have been a political and imaging disaster.

Biden aimed to throw the Obama base a lifeline. He fed the Kos Kidz desperate need to see some fight, but at the cost of his remaining (and mostly notional) dignity. If you want a gibbering, snorting, mumbling clown with a rictus-grin locked on his mug a heartbeat away from controlling America's nuclear arsenal, Joe Biden's your guy.

Ryan aimed to meet the standard of gravitas and presence, to demonstrate to the fabled female/suburban/swing/moderate voters that he's not a scary granny-killing Terminator sent from the future to throw seniors into the snowbank. He had to demonstrate steadiness, stature and knowledge. Done and done.

The conventional wisdom this morning is that the debate was a tie. That conventional wisdom is (as is so often the case) dead wrong. Biden played to his base, trying to dig Obama out of the hole he's been trapped in since last week's debate trainwreck. Ryan played to the center, to the swing and to the late-engagers. The post-hoc coverage won't factor into their decisions: the pictures and Biden's mugging, drunk-uncle affect will. (Also, Biden opened several new, Costco-scale cans of worms for the Administration on the Libya scandal.)

In short, Biden did nothing to reset the race, and the edge of panic is still there in the Obama campaign.

Head of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood calls for 'jihad' to liberate Jerusalem

(JPost) Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Mohammed Badie called on Muslims worldwide to liberate Jerusalem by means of jihad, according to AFP.

In his weekly message to supporters, Badie reportedly asserted that “The jihad for the recovery of Jerusalem is a duty for all Muslims,” stressing that the city's conquest “will not be done through negotiations or at the United Nations.”

Secret Service member arrested for passing out drunk, resisting arrest

(Fox News) A U.S. Secret Service member was arrested early Friday after authorities found him passed out on a Miami sidewalk and he became combative after they checked on him, police said.

The officer, identified as Aaron Francis Engler, was found hours after President Obama had left South Florida, according to CBS4 Miami. According to the arrest report, Miami police officers were nearby on an unrelated call when they saw Engler. When they checked on him, he allegedly started to fight with officers, according to the police report.

Taliban's "Radio Mullah" sent hit squad after Pakistani schoolgirl

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - One of the Taliban's most feared commanders, Maulana Fazlullah, carefully briefed two killers from his special hit squad on their next target.

The gunmen weren't going after any army officer, politician or Western diplomat. Their target was a 14-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl who had angered the Taliban by speaking out for "Western"-style girls' education.

Tuesday's shooting of Malala Yousufzai was the culmination of years of campaigning that had pitted the fearless, smiling young girl against one of Pakistan's most ruthless Taliban commanders.

Their story began in 2009, when Fazlullah, known as Radio Mullah for his fiery radio broadcasts, took over Swat Valley, and ordered the closure of girls' schools, including Yousufzai's.

Outraged, the then-11-year-old kept a blog for the BBC under a pen name and later launched a campaign for girls' education. It won her Pakistan's highest civilian honor and death threats from the Taliban.

Turkey scrambles fighter jets to Syrian border

HACIPASA, Turkey (Reuters) - Turkey scrambled two fighter planes to the border with Syria on Friday after a Syrian military helicopter bombed the Syrian border town of Azmarin, a Reuters witness said.

There has been intense fighting between rebels and Syrian government forces this week in Azmarin and neighboring towns, an area strongly opposed to President Bashar al-Assad's rule.

Shells fired onto the town from surrounding hills sent thick plumes of smoke and dust rising into the air during fighting on Thursday and a voice amplified through loudspeakers, audible from the village of Hacipasa in Turkey's Hatay province, called on rebel fighters to surrender, warning of an air assault.

Fighting along Turkey's 900-km (560-mile) border with Syria has repeatedly spilled over into Turkish territory in the past week, with the Turkish army responding in kind to gunfire and mortar shells fired from Syria.

Turkish Chief of Staff General Necdet Ozel said on Wednesday his troops would respond "with greater force" if the shells continued to land on Turkish soil, and parliament last week authorized the deployment of troops beyond Turkey, heightening fears that Syria's civil war would drag in regional powers.

EU warned Palestinian Authority of negative costs of UN bid

(JPost) The European Union is advising the Palestinian Authority to “be careful” regarding its stated plan to ask the UN for non-member state observer status at its General Assembly, Deputy Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas said Wednesday.

Kourkoulas, on a one day trip to Israel where he met his counterpart Danny Ayalon and National Security Adviser Yaakov Amidror, told The Jerusalem Post that while there has not been any formal EU discussion on the matter, informal deliberations are ongoing.

“The EU is advising them to be careful, but the decision is theirs,” he said. Asked what the Palestinians should be careful about, he replied “the possible negative consequences of their decision.” [...]

The 27 EU states split on that vote, with five countries voting against the move, 11 voting for, and another 11 abstaining.

Prosecutor: Muslim terrorists planned French attacks

PARIS (Reuters) - French anti-terrorist investigators believe a group of suspected Islamist militants arrested on Saturday were recruiting Jihadi fighters to go to Syria and planning attacks in France, a Paris prosecutor said.

Members of the group had assembled enough material to make a bomb the same size as explosives used in a deadly wave of attacks in Paris in the mid-1990s, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins added.

The weekend police swoop, in which another suspect was shot dead as he fired at police, dismantled "a terrorist group that is probably the most dangerous (seen in France) since 1996," Molins told a news conference on Thursday.

Seven suspects were placed under official investigation on Thursday on suspicion of taking part in terrorist activities.

Two of the seven were also suspected of playing a role in seeking volunteers to join Jihadi missions abroad, including in Syria, said Molins.

Another five people who were arrested on Saturday have been released.

The weekend arrests were tied to an attack on a kosher food market outside Paris in September.

France has not seen an attack with mass casualties on its soil since 1995, when an Algerian Islamist group bombed the underground Metro network and other sites in the capital, killing 10 people and injuring about 200.

Priorities: Libya security cut while Vienna embassy gained Chevy Volts

(WT) In a May 3, 2012, email, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC- 3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.

The subject line of the email, on which slain Ambassador Chris Stevens was copied, read: “Termination of Tripoli DC-3 Support.”

Four days later, on May 7, the State Department authorized the U.S. embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool’s new Chevrolet Volts. The purchase was a part of the State Department’s “Energy Efficiency Sweep of Europe” initiative, which included hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on green program expenditures at various U.S. Embassies.

In fact, at a May 10 gala held at the U.S. embassy in Vienna, the ambassador showcased his new Volts and other green investments as part of the U.S. government’s commitment to “climate change solutions.”

The event posting on the embassy website read: “Celebrating the Greening of the Embassy.”

While the embassy in Vienna was going green, the consulate in Benghazi was getting bombed, and little was done to stop it.

Russia backs a second term for Obama

Gee, I wonder why?

MOSCOW, Russia — Experts say the Kremlin would like to see President Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney in the US election next month — although you may be hard-pressed to divine that from recent developments.

On Monday last week, the US Agency for International Development, USAID, wrapped up its 20 years of work in Russia on orders from the Kremlin.

Two days later, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov took a swipe at Obama’s policy of improving ties with Russia by warning that perpetually “reset” relations would constitute a “program failure.”

Later the same day, the US Justice Department charged 11 alleged Russian agents with stealing electronic technology for Moscow through a front company based in the United States.

Gunmen kill US Embassy security chief in Yemen

SANAA (Reuters) - Masked gunmen shot dead a Yemeni security chief on his way to work at the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on Thursday, in an attack a Yemeni security source said appeared to be the work of al Qaeda.

The incident was the latest of a wave of attacks on officials in the impoverished Arab state, which is battling Islamist militants with Washington's help.

The attackers, on a motorcycle, opened fire on Qassem Aqlan - who headed an embassy security investigation team - near his house in the centre of Yemen's capital, the source told Reuters.

"This operation has the fingerprints of al Qaeda which carried out similar operations before," said the source, who asked not to be named.

The post-constitutional president - Obama shows contempt for his oath of office

(WT) Team Obama insists that next month’s presidential election is “a choice, not a referendum.” It sure seems to be the latter with respect to the two candidates’ very different views on the Constitution. Mitt Romney makes plain at every turn his commitment to that document, while Barack Obama’s conduct in office has marked him as the post-constitutional president.

Consider just a few examples of President Obama’s systematic disregard of, contempt for and deviation from a national charter he swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend:

Mr. Obama has simply refused to uphold federal laws with which he disagrees, including the Defense of Marriage Act and immigration statutes.

After confirming that in the absence of congressional authorization he lacked the authority to give what amounts to an amnesty to young illegal aliens, Mr. Obama went ahead and declared it by executive fiat.

Despite repeated congressional objections to federal purchase of a state prison in Thomson, Ill., to which the Obama administration has sought to relocate jihadists currently held as detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Mr. Obama last week authorized its acquisition for $165 million.

Ever since taking office, the Obama administration has sought to accommodate Islamist demands that freedom of expression be curbed lest it offend Muslims and stoke violence. For example, in 2009, the administration co-sponsored a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution along those lines. In 2011, it launched the so-called “Istanbul Process” to find common ground with proponents of Shariah blasphemy laws who seek to strip us of our First Amendment freedoms.

In September, Mr. Obama announced at the United Nations, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam” — a stance indistinguishable from that of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban and al Qaeda.

A particularly ominous example of Mr. Obama’s post-constitutional presidency involves his abdication of his first duty as commander in chief: to secure the common defense. Having successfully engineered two rounds of deep defense budget reductions totaling some $800 billion over the next 10 years, the president is intent on inflicting a further, devastating half-trillion-dollar, across-the-board cut pursuant to a process known on Capitol Hill as sequestration.

There is no getting around it: Cuts of this magnitude are going to result in tremendous disruptions to defense programs and attendant job losses in the associated industries. A federal law known as the Warn Act requires companies with more than 100 employees to give them notice of potential layoffs 60 days in advance. With sequestration due to kick in Jan. 2, this means the mandatory warning of potential pink slips to come would arrive just before the Nov. 6 election.

To avoid such a particularly untimely reminder of the president’s dismal stewardship of his economic as well as national security portfolios, in July the Obama Labor Department issued guidance to defense contractors saying that the Warn Act’s requirements would not be enforced. The pretext given was that since sequestration’s potential effects on particular contracts had not been specified, there was insufficient basis to know the extent of the impact on employment and, therefore, the statute would not apply.

Of course, one reason the potential effects of sequestration are not known with precision less than three months before they are statutorily required to go into effect is that the Obama administration has ordered the Pentagon not to make any plans for implementing that next round of cuts. This directive was reaffirmed Sept. 27.

On Sept. 28, Team Obama advised contractors that, as the Hill newspaper reported: “They would be compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur due to contract cancellations under sequestration — but only if the contractors follow the Labor [Department] guidance.” In other words, the administration now wants the taxpayer to pick up the tab for violations of the law by those it has induced to engage in them.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, all Republicans, have been among those tirelessly warning for months of the catastrophe sequestration will inflict on the U.S. military. They issued a joint statement in response to the president’s latest post-constitutional action which said, in part, “The Obama administration is cynically trying to skirt the WARN Act to keep the American people in the dark about this looming national security and fiscal crisis. The president should insist that companies act in accordance with the clearly stated law and move forward with the layoff notices.

In an important essay published Sept. 24 in the Wall Street Journal, former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey called on legislators to put Mr. Obama on notice: If, as widely expected, he proceeds after the election to yield to Islamist demands that he transfer or release the lead conspirator in the first World Trade Center attack, Omar Abdel-Rahman — presumably to Egypt — it “could be considered the kind of gross betrayal of public trust that would justify removal from high office.” The same should apply to Mr. Obama’s palpable contempt for the Constitution — something sure to be even more in evidence if he secures re-election and, as he says, “more flexibility” in a second term.

CEO to Workers: You'll Likely Be Fired If Obama Is Re-elected

(CNBC) David Siegel, the owner of Westgate Resorts, sent a surprising email to his employees Monday.

It said that if President Barack Obama wins re-election and raises Siegel's taxes, he will have to lay off workers and downsize his company — or even shut it down.

"If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company," he wrote. "Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone."

In a version of Romney's "47 percent" remarks, Siegel added that "people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for." [...]

He said that if Obama is re-elected and imposes Obamacare and higher taxes, he may just have to let more of his remaining 7,000 workers go. He said he might even shut down the company.

"The combination of Obamacare and taxes would be a disaster," he said." I would probably just call it a day and that would be a disaster."

Siegel stressed that he wasn't out to intimidate his workers into voting for Romney. "I can't tell anyone to vote," he said. But he wants to make sure his workers made an informed choice. "I want my employees to be educated on what could happen to their future if the wrong person is elected."

What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can't tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn't interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best.

However, let me share a few facts that might help you decide what is in your best interest.The current administration and members of the press have perpetuated an environment that casts employers against employees. They want you to believe that we live in a class system where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. They label us the "1%" and imply that we are somehow immune to the challenges that face our country. This could not be further from the truth. Sure, you may have heard about the big home that I'm building. I'm sure many people think that I live a privileged life. However, what you don't see or hear is the true story behind any success that I have achieved.

I started this company over 42 years ago. At that time, I lived in a very modest home. I converted my garage into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. We didn't eat in fancy restaurants or take expensive vacations because every dollar I made went back into this company. I drove an old used car, and often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business - hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, many of my friends got regular jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a nice income, and they spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into this business --with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford to buy whatever I wanted. Even to this day, every dime I earn goes back into this company. Over the past four years I have had to stop building my dream house, cut back on all of my expenses, and take my kids out of private schools simply to keep this company strong and to keep you employed.

Just think about this - most of you arrive at work in the morning and leave that afternoon and the rest of your time is yours to do as you please. But not me- there is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have that freedom. I eat, live, and breathe this company every minute of the day, every day of the week. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. I know many of you work hard and do a great job, but I'm the one who has to sign every check, pay every expense, and make sure that this company continues to succeed. Unfortunately, what most people see is the nice house and the lavish lifestyle. What the press certainly does not want you to see, is the true story of the hard work and sacrifices I've made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don't pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I even have to hire an entire department to manage all these taxes. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like me who built a company out of his garage and directly employs over 7000 people and hosts over 3 million people per year with a great vacation?

Obviously, our present government believes that taking my money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, if I deducted 50 percent of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? Who wants to get rewarded only 50 percent of their hard work? Well, that's what happens to me.

Here is what most people don't understand and the press and our Government has chosen to ignore - to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Instead of raising my taxes and depositing that money into the Washington black-hole, let me spend it on growing the company, hire more employees, and generate substantial economic growth. My employees will enjoy the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But that is not what our current Government wants you to believe. They want you to believe that it somehow makes sense to take more from those who create wealth and give it to those who do not, and somehow our economy will improve. They don't want you to know that the "1%", as they like to label us, pay more than 31% of all the taxes in this country. Thomas Jefferson, the author of our great Constitution, once said, "democracy" will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate business, not kill it. However, the power brokers in Washington believe redistributing wealth is the essential driver of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change they want.

So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.

So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the "1 percenters" are bad, I'm telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the "1%"; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.

You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the Caribbean sitting on the beach, under a palm tree, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Hungarian-born businessman runs pro-GOP ad warning of “slippery slope” to socialism

(Washington Examiner) Thomas Peterffy, chairman and chief executive officer of Interactive Brokers Group and a pioneer in electric trading, has produced his own pro-Republican ad for the election. He is doing this independent of the party.

Peterffy told the Examiner via email that he intends to spend $5-10 million on the ad “depending upon how effective it is found to be.” The will run through the election and be broadcast on “CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, and test markets in Ohio and Wisconsin, (and) possibly Florida.”

In the ad, he addresses the camera directly, talking about his youth in socialist Hungary and how he happy he was to have escaped it to come to America. He warns that America is now in danger of going down the same slippery slope to socialism.

I grew up in a socialist country and I have seen what that does to people. There is no hope, no freedom, no pride in achievement. The nation became poorer and poorer and that is what I see happening here. As a young boy I was fantasizing about one day going to America, making a success of myself – the American dream. America’s wealth comes from the efforts of people striving for success. Take away their incentive with badmouthing success and you take away the wealth that helps us to take care of the needy. Yes, in socialism in the rich will be poorer – but the poor will also be poorer. People lose interest in really working hard and creating jobs. I think this is a very slippery slope. It seems like people don’t learn from the past. That is why I am voting Republican and putting this ad on television.

Saudi journalist says that the ‘real enemies of Arab world’ are corruption and dictators, not Israel

(JPost) An article by a Saudi journalist challenging the conventional wisdom in the Arab world – in particular the view of Israel as the root of the region’s problems – is enjoying skyrocketing popularity online and sparking debate about the Arab Spring.

Under the headline “Arab Spring and the Israeli enemy,” the writer used the occasion of the Yom Kippur War in 1973 to wonder aloud about the resources spent on war, in particular the War of Independence in 1948 and the Six Day War in 1967.

“What was the real cost for not recognizing Israel in 1948 and why didn’t the Arab states spend their assets on education, health care and the infrastructures instead of wars?” asked Abdulateef al-Mulhim in the Arab News, a Saudi Arabian newspaper in English whose website “gets hundreds of thousands of hits every day” from around the world, according to the paper’s site.

“But, the hardest question that no Arab national wants to hear is whether Israel is the real enemy of the Arab world and the Arab people,” wrote al-Mulhim.

“I decided to write this article after I saw photos and reports about a starving child in Yemen, a burned ancient Aleppo souk in Syria, the underdeveloped Sinai in Egypt, car bombs in Iraq and the destroyed buildings in Libya. The photos and the reports were shown on the Al-Arabiya network, which is the most watched and respected news outlet in the Middle East,” he wrote.

“The common thing among all what I saw is that the destruction and the atrocities are not done by an outside enemy. The starvation, the killings and the destruction in these Arab countries are done by the same hands that are supposed to protect and build the unity of these countries and safeguard the people of these countries. So, the question now is that who is the real enemy of the Arab world?” he asked.

Al-Mulhim continued later in the column: “The real enemies of the Arab world are corruption, lack of good education, lack of good health care, lack of freedom, lack of respect for the human lives and finally, the Arab world had many dictators who used the Arab-Israeli conflict to suppress their own people.”

“These dictators’ atrocities against their own people are far worse than all the full-scale Arab- Israeli wars,” he added, pointing out the mistreatment of Palestinians by Israeli soldiers, but delineating equally outrageous events in the region, from the devastating war in Syria to the upheaval in Iraq, the corruption in Tunisia that allowed the former president “to steal $13 billion from the poor Tunisians.”

Al-Mulhim then called on Arab countries to stop blaming Israel for their woes and concluded, “Now, it is time to stop the wars and start to create better living conditions for the future Arab generations.”

The article has been shared widely around social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, and has been republished in several other newspapers since it was published on the Arab News website on October 6. Tim Marshall, a British journalist with Sky News, shared the link in his Twitter Feed and added: “If there were more like this guy – fewer people would die.”

Massive US-Israel air defense drill set for October

(JPost) The US and Israel will commence the largest-ever joint air defense drill of its kind in Israel on October 21, an army source said on Tuesday.

The exercise, named Austere Challenge 12, was originally scheduled for last spring but was postponed due to regional tensions with Iran.

On October 14, large numbers of American soldiers are expected to begin arriving in Israel, where they will set up aerial defense positions on Israeli territory and on US Navy vessels off the Israeli coastline.

The three-week drill will simulate various missile defense scenarios, and is expected to end with a live-fire interception of a decoy incoming Patriot missile.

One of the objectives of the drill is to facilitate the rapid deployment of US missile defense systems to Israel and test their ability to operate in conjunction with Israeli defense systems during a conflict.

One-eyed imam Hook pleads not guilty to terrorism charges

NEW YORK (Reuters) - One-eyed radical Islamist cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri pleaded not guilty to 11 criminal counts in federal court on Tuesday after Britain extradited him to the United States last week to face trial and a possible life sentence on terrorism charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Katherine Forrest in Manhattan set a trial date of August 26, 2013, for the Egyptian-born preacher, who is missing both his hands and an eye - injuries he says he sustained during humanitarian work in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Hamza, 54, was accused in 2004 of participating in a 1998 hostage-taking in Yemen that resulted in the deaths of three Britons and an Australian. He is also charged with providing material support to the al Qaeda network by trying to set up a training camp in Oregon and with attempting to organize support for the Taliban in Afghanistan.

After an eight-year battle to avoid extradition, he was flown late on Friday to the United States along with four other men also wanted on U.S. terrorism charges.

Hamza made an initial appearance in federal court in Saturday but did not enter a plea at that time.

At Tuesday's hearing, he again appeared without his prosthetic - a signature metal hook - that he wears because of his missing forearms.

Hamza pleaded not guilty to the 11 criminal counts that included hostage taking, providing material support to terrorists, and conspiracy charges. Hamza could face up to life in prison if convicted on the charges.

Hamza, through his attorney, asked that he be referred to as Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, his name at birth, instead of Abu Hamza, his adopted moniker.

Jeremy Schneider, his court-appointed lawyer, told the judge that his client wished to enter "a plea of not guilty to that indictment."

"Is that your plea, Mr. Mustafa?" the judge asked. "Yes, it is," he answered.

Taliban shoot 14-year-old Pakistani peace activist girl

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Taliban gunmen in Pakistan shot and seriously wounded on Tuesday a 14-year-old schoolgirl who rose to fame for speaking out against the militants, authorities said.

Malala Yousufzai was shot in the head and neck when gunmen fired on her school bus in the Swat valley, northwest of the capital, Islamabad. Two other girls were also wounded, police said.

Yousufzai became famous for speaking out against the Pakistani Taliban at a time when even the government seemed to be appeasing the hardline Islamists.

Syria: Suicide bombers hit security complex, killing and wounding at least 100

AMMAN (Reuters) - Rebel suicide bombers struck overnight at an Air Force Intelligence compound on the edge of the Syrian capital Damascus, killing or wounding at least 100 people, insurgents and activists said on Tuesday.

The militant Islamist group al-Nusra Front said it had mounted the attack because it was used a center for torture and repression in the crackdown on the 18-month-old revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.

"Big shockwaves shattered windows and destroyed shop facades. It felt as if a bomb exploded inside every house in the area," said one resident of the suburb of Harasta, where the compound was located.

Activists living nearby said the bombing caused at least 100 casualties among security personnel, based on the number of ambulances that rushed to the scene and the enormity of the explosions.
