(Wien) While the liberal world opines about President Trump and his 90 day block on people from 7 countries entering the US. Austria has unveiled a rash of measures which directly target Muslims living in Austria far harsher than what Donald has enacted.
Austria's chancellor Christian Kern has stated that he will seek to ban full-face
veils in public, as part of a wide-ranging government programme aimed at
fending off the challenge of the far-right. . Kern has said he wants to avoid "giving 600,000
Muslims in Austria the feeling that they are not part of our society." The 35-page programme also includes beefing up surveillance
and security measures, obliging migrants granted the right to stay to sign an
"integration contract" and a "statement of values".
"Those who are not prepared to accept Enlightenment values will have to leave our country and society,"
It also promises the government will lower taxes and
non-wage labour costs, restrict access of foreign workers to the Austrian
labour market and create 70,000 new jobs.
I have to laugh at how this direct targeting of Muslims has been promoted as an answer to the far right who are growing in strength across Western Europe. The part regards jobs for local people caught my eye, as when the UK voted itself out of the EUSSR for exactly that last year, the liberals did not like it, playing the 'British can only be racist' card every damn chance they get.
I wonder if the ethical latte crowd are going to protest on mass like they currently are doing against the US and UK?
