Ramadan Death Count Round Up (July 25, 2014)

(Afghanistan) Taliban gunmen stopped two vehicles in central Afghanistan and shot dead 15 Shia tourists at the side of the road in Ghor province.

29 Taliban militants were killed in the past 24 hours during a nationwide operation led by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

(Pakistan) Two policemen were gunned down in cold blood this morning as they travelled to work in Quetta.

(India) One person was killed and over two dozen others injured Friday when thousands of Shias protesting against Development Minister Azam Khan clashed with the police .

(Philippines) Philippine troops attacked a Muslim militant hideout on southern Basilan island, triggering a clash that killed three Abu Sayyaf members. Two government militiamen were killed and two others were wounded.

(Thailand) A car bomb in Muslim majority southern Thailand killed one person and injured 20 others Friday.
One victim was killed instantly in the blast caused by a car bomb in front of the Holiday Hills hotel in Yala province’s Betong district.

(Syria) An offensive by the jihadist Islamic State group against Syrian government-held territory has killed at least 74 people.

(Somalia) African Union troops in Somalia said Friday they had killed two "senior" commanders of the Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab terrorist group.

(Egypt) Gunmen shot and killed two senior Egyptian officers in the country's volatile Sinai Peninsula where the military has been trying to quell a spreading insurgency by Islamic militants, a security official said.
