Florida Man - Harlem Suarez, also known as Almlak Benitez - Charged with Attempting to Use Weapon of Mass Destruction

WASHINGTON, July 28 (Reuters) - A Florida resident has been charged in an alleged backpack bomb plot he planned to carry out in the United States, the Department of Justice said on Tuesday.

Harlem Suarez, also known as Almlak Benitez, 23, of Key West, Florida, was charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, the department said.

Prosecutors allege that he was inspired by the Islamic State militant group.

Harlem Suarez, a 23-year-old man of Key West in Florida, has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged plot to detonate a bomb at a public beach on the island, the U.S. Justice Department says. Suarez has been charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction against a person or property within the United States.
