Ramadan Death Count: Iraq, 22/06/17

(Mosul) Iraqi government forces killed on Thursday Abu Furqan al-Maswseli an Islamic State explosives official along with 15 others at a house in al-Shifa district a district adjacent to Mosul’s Old City, the group’s last bastion. Also on Thursday, Federal Police chief Shaker Jawdat said his forces killed 43 Islamic State members in Ras al-Jada and Bab al-Beed in the old city, and destroyed five booby-trapped vehicles.

(Hawija) Fifteen Islamic State militants were killed on Wednesday in airstrikes by Iraqi jets which targeted ISIS locations in Hawija and Tal Afar.

(Anbar) Thirteen civilians were killed and injured as unidentified shelling occurred, north of Rutba city, west of Anbar. Iraq stated the otherday it has launched an operation to clear ISIS out of the district.

(Mosul) The PMU (para-military forces comprising of more than 60 mostly Shia militias) killed eight Islamic State terrorists in a failed ISIS attempt to carry out a counterattack to the south of Mosul.

(Kirkuk) A Peshmerga soldier was killed, while two others were injured on Tuesday after they foiled an attack by the Islamic State in Tuz Khurmatu city, southwest of Kirkuk.

(Mosul) Iraqi government forces recaptured on Tuesday several areas inside and around the Islamic State-held Old City, killing 30 terrorists in the process.

(Al-Riyadh) A cameraman from the Islamic State’s main media agency in southwestern Kirkuk was found beheaded at the side of the road.

(Mosul) On Tuesday Iraqi forces repelled an attempt by Islamic State to retake areas they had previously lost in western Mosul. Iraqi warplanes soon put a stop to that silly little ideas killing 23 IS members who were trying to sneak into the district of al-Dindan.
