Italy: Child has head shaven for not wearing Hijab.

(Bologna) A 14 year old Bangladeshi immigrant girl living in Italy, started taking of her head covering (hijab) when she attended school simply because she didn't like wearing it. Her mother on hearing about this, decided to discipline the child by shaving off all hair . Her lack of hair raised suspicions at school the next day, and the girl told her teachers about the punishment and alleged months-long tensions with parents over not complying with their religious beliefs. School officials promptly notified the police and social services of the incident. They in turn have taken the child away from her parents for her own safe keeping.
