(Syria) Whilst I won't say the Russian involvement hasn't been effective (a lot more than the US effort), they have resorted to blanket bombing a target in which to get the job done. The vast majority of their missions have used bombs no different than those used during WWII. The US-led coalition on the other hand have used precision guided munitions (PGM) combined with targeting pods in which to surgically strike idiots such as ISIS. Here is one such example north of the Syrian city of Manbij on the 5th July 2016.
