Syria: Russia carries out airstrike on Turkish convoy.

(Damascus)  Well the sticky brown stuff has really hit the fan inside Syria, as it was reported earlier that Russia warned the Turks that the freedom of the air over Syria was going to be denied to them as of Monday  (But I didn't want to mention that until I had concrete proof)

and

Now it has been reported that the Russian airforce has just carried an air strike on a Turkish military convoy: in Sarmin
#BREAKING: It is now confirmed! #Russian bombers targeted a convoy of #Turkish Army in #Sarmin, South #Idlib an hour ago. In this video, the #TurkishArmy Aviation S-70A-28 SAR helicopters which evacuated the #TSK's wounded & killed soldiers from #Syria can be heard!

Syria: Russian SU 25 jet shot down.

(Damascus) A Russian SU-25 ground-attack aircraft has been shot down in a rebel-held area in Syria's north-western province of Idlib. Roman Fillipov the pilot managed to eject however he landed into an area controlled by the jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham alliance and he was killed after a brief gunfight.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham said it had shot down the plane. In response the Russians hit the area with a saturation cruise missile attack.
The Russian equivalent of the  USAF A10 over 1000 SU 25s have been built and it has served in over 28 different Air forces.  Like the A10, Russia implemented an upgrade program resulting in the SU25SM, which is believed to be the craft with was shot down yesterday.

Syria: Russia suffers largest loss to date to Islamist terrorists.

(Damascus)  Its no secret that Russian air-power has made a huge difference to the state of affairs inside Syria. Whilst the West has resorted to using precision guided weapons (PGws) in which to selectively target the enemy (single tank, artillery piece, Mortar , machine gun team. Which whilst effective against those targets , simply ensured that the battle against these religious bigots was drawn out, but that they could be easily prevented by simply having civilians in the area.

The Russians however haven't gone down the route of 100% PGW and instead have stuck to the old stalwart of simply blowing the heck out of an area and sod the collateral damage:

Whilst the US coalition did make some progress against the likes of ISIS,  it didn't make that much of a huge impact against them. On the other hand the use of brute strength by Russia, not only stopped the terrorists in Syria, it pushed them back. If anything these religious bigots feared the Russian military much more than they did the rest and as such they have made a number of attempts in which to take out those Russian air assets based inside Syria. However on New Years Eve, they struck Khmeimim Air Base the main Russian Air base inside Syria and inflicted a huge amount of damage to the Russian airforce with at least seven aircraft destroyed during an mortar attack.

According to the Russian media, four Su-24 bombers, two Su-35S multipurpose fighter aircraft and an An-72 military transport aircraft went up in smoke, also destroyed was an ammo dump and killed a number of Russian servicemen.
SU 35S
AN 72

SU 24

At a stroke the terrorists have hurt the Russians, and whilst it won't prevent Moscow from deploying more jets to the region, it will reduce air activity in the region for a while.

Syria: Air strike on market kills 61

(Atareb) More than 60 people were killed in after Syrian/Russian air-force carried out airstrikes on a market in north Syria on Monday on a town inside rebel held terrority.

There were at least three airstrikes on the market at Atareb, a town in the Aleppo countryside which had become swollen by the arrival of refugees from nearby battles.

For some strange reason this hasn't received that much coverage in the Western Media, neither have the so called ethical latte crowd, who are always the first to scream foul play at the US/UK or Israel made a sound. Funny that.

Syria: The Battle for Aleppo

(Guardian) The Syrian Army along with their Russian and Iranian hitmen and their Hezb-allah hitmen have done an outstanding job in Aleppo. Don't get me wrong here, not for one moment do I support any of these thugs, but when it comes to wiping out Islamic terrorists, I'm not going to shed any tears for the blood thirsty thugs pushing up weeds in Aleppo. Well, the past few weeks has seen the Rebel stronghold in Aleppo getting smaller and smaller as it has been squeezed by the Assad regime. The Guardian have knocked out a set of maps showing how the lines of control have changed these past few weeks. Most illuminating:

Sunday 27 November

After 12 days of intense preparatory air-strikes, forces supporting the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, launched a major ground assault on rebel-held eastern Aleppo. The attack was concentrated on the northern part of the rebel enclave; pro-regime forces had been consolidating their control north of this frontline since the siege began in late August. Opposition fighters retreated in the face of a regime advance that captured the areas of Jabal Badro and Masaken Hanano, which was the first district taken by rebels in 2012. Thousands of civilians fled to Kurdish and government-held territory.

Monday 28 November

Pro-regime forces led by Iraqi Shia militias and Hezbollah seized control of up to one-third of rebel-held eastern Aleppo after another day of rapid advances. Rebel defences appear to have been fatally weakened since pro-regime air strikes resumed with renewed ferocity nearly two weeks ago.

The capture earlier in the day of the strategic Sakhour district consolidated Sunday’s regime gains into a wedge that effectively cut rebel territory in two. This maneuver briefly left open a small corridor through which rebels withdrew to a new front-line farther south, before pro-regime forces moved to occupy the entire northern third of the rebel enclave.

Tuesday 6 December

Pro-government troops moved to within a kilometre of Aleppo’s ancient citadel on Tuesday as rebel-held districts continued to fall. With up to 70% of eastern Aleppo now back in regime hands, there was fierce fighting as rebels lost control of more territory east of the narrow streets which surround the citadel. Regime forces built on momentum generated over a second consecutive weekend of heavy bombardment and rapid advances. On Monday, Russia vetoed a draft UN security council resolution calling for a ceasefire, ensuring its ally in Damascus remained free to build on its advantage.

Wednesday 7 December

The Old City of Aleppo, long a bastion of the Syrian opposition, fell into regime hands after the rebels defending it withdrew fearing being cut off after government soldiers and Iranian-backed militia seized the neighbouring districts of Bab al-Hadid and Aqyul. Pro-Assad forces also took parts of Marjeh as opposition ranks were reportedly divided on whether to leave the city or make a last stand.

And this is a video clip from 06/12/16 on how the Syrian army (and friends) are doing all of the above:

Syria: Russian PGMs are crap

(Russia) After the Gulf War against Saddam, the world woke up to the fact that the West had really accurate weapons . Classed as Precision guided munitions (PGM) the west took note of what happened in 1991 and improved their missile targeting systems which is why in Iraq and Syria western collation forces are surgically removing terrorists with low collateral weapon systems like this:

The Russians are nowhere near as effective as the West when it comes to surgical strikes. Which is why they have tended to use Dumb bombs

on mass just like they were used in WW2 in which to devastate an area.

But they do have PGMs, the problem is, they still have a lot of work to do. Here is a video of just how inaccurate the Russian air-force is at the moment.

Syrian War Report – November 16, 2016: Russia Launch Air Raids and Missile Strikes on Terrorists

(Syria) The Russian Air Force began extensive air raids on Islamist rebels in the countryside northwest of Aleppo city. Targeting rebel-held positions in the Anadan Plain, Russian airstrikes were observed over Kafr Hamra, Haritan, Ma’arat al-Artiq, Anadan and Dahrt Abd Rabo. According to a military source debriefing Al-Masdar News, one of the airstrikes struck a militant convoy – believed to be delivering weapons – along the Gazi Ayntap road.

Elements of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Tiger Forces, those deployed on the Handarat axis, fired missiles into the aforementioned areas while regular SAA troops stationed at the Al-Zahra artillery base likewise provided shelling. Russian reconnaissance drones have been flying over the Anadan Plains in recent days, surveying insurgent movements in the region. In the coming days, following a significant military build-up in the city, the SAA is expected to launch an exceptionally large-scale offensive in Aleppo. However, specifics on the military plan, to be code-named operation ‘Northern Storm’, are yet to be disclosed. Meanwhile, rebel sources said joint Russian and Syrian airstrikes over rebel-held eastern Aleppo killed dozens on Wednesday, including some collateral damage.

Syria: Russian Kalibar cruise missile caught on camera flying towards Aleppo

Russia has used the events taking place inside Syria in which to test its latest weapons systems which will allow them to:

  1. Allow its military to become familiar in their use.
  2. Allow the military to test and adjust the weapon in which to iron out any faults
  3. Use the situation as a huge advertising campaign in which to sell to the weapon happy Middle East.
The other day the Russians launched their latest offensive against the Islamist rebels surrounded in Aleppo. Supported by the Syrian and Iranian governments and the mullahs Hezb-allah lackeys. They they kickstarted their offensive with plenty of video coverage of the launching of Bastion Anti-Ship missiles used against land targets.

We have already been regaled to the use of the latest Russian aircraft over Syria, (However they have kept very quiet about how their latest Mig 29K which crashed into the Sea off Syria on trying to return to the Russian Carrier sailing off the coast) their T90 tanks (Which apparently to the Russian media are missile proof).

Anyway they also launched a load of Kalibar cruise missiles again (with none crashing inside Iran this time) and one of these was caught on camera flying over a town.

Here's a little more info on the 3M14 Kalibar Cruise Missile:

Isn't it strange how the Russians are showcasing their latest cruise missiles in a theatre of war, whilst the Royal Navy is getting rid of theirs in case they accidentally harm a terrorist during a weapons strike and somebody sues them.

Syria: Russian carrier to begin ops

(Eastern Med) The deployment of the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov to the Eastern Mediterranean, which started mid-October near Severomorsk, is not a surprise. During winter, the Kuznetsov is usually deployed somewhere southward. She made her first Mediterranean deployment between 23 December 1995 and 22 March 1996. Because of extensive service work, absent funding and the explosion and sinking of the nuclear-powered submarine Kursk, the second Mediterranean deployment was more than ten years later, between 5 December 2007 and 3 February 2008. Further deployments to the Mediterranean were between 5 December 2008 and 2 March 2009, 6 December 2011 and 17 February 2012, 17 December 2013 and 17 May 2014. It seems that the Russian Navy abstained of another deployment at the end of 2015 because the 100th Shipborne Fighter Aviation Regiment with its MiG-29KR light fighters and MiG-29KUBR combat-capable trainers was not adequate trained for air operations from the carrier.

According to the Russian classification the Admiral Kuznetsov is designated as a heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser instead of an aircraft carrier, this is due to the 1936 Montreaux Convention, passage of “aircraft carriers” through the Turkish Straits is prohibited. In contrast to U.S. carriers, the Admiral Kuznetsov was designed specifically to sail alone and carries offensive firepower (especially worthy of mention are the 12 long-range surface-to-surface anti-ship Granit cruise missiles). Consequently, the Kuznetsov’s carrier battle group is rather small and comprises a Kirov class nuclear battlecruiser (Pyotr Velikiy), two Udaloy I class anti-submarine destroyers (Severomorsk and Vice-Admiral Kulakov), three replenishment oilers and two rescue tugs. The battle group has been joined by the Admiral Grigorovich, the flagship of its class, an additional replenishment oiler and two rescue tugs coming from the Black Sea on November 5. The Admiral Grigorovich, which was commissioned only in March 2016, is a frigate armed with Kalibr-NK missiles.

 Admiral Kuznetsov

Pyotr Velikiy
Admiral Grigorovich

Aboard the Kuznetsov, there are approximately ten Su-33 as well as at least four MiG-29KR and MiG-29KUBR. Additional to the fighter jets there are approximately four KA-27PL/PS, two KA-29TB, two KA-31 and one KA-52K helicopters on board.

Su-33
 MiG-29KR

KA-52K

Arriving in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Kuznetsov battle group will probably operate east of Cyprus near the Syrian coast till January, 2017. According of the plans of the Russian general staff, Syria and in trainings with other Russian-friendly states, most likely with the Egyptian Navy.

Syria: The propaganda war which Russia appears to be winning

(Syria) Came across this video clip which is currently doing the rounds on the social media scene. The problem is, its true.

Sunday, September 25, 2016

Syria; Evidence points at Russia for the bombing of the UN food convoy outside Aleppo.

(Syria) I'd like to say the world was shocked over the destruction of the UN convoy (31 trucks) delivering aid to the non-combatants held hostage inside Aleppo.  But to be honest, people are no longer shocked by what transpires in the Middle East.

Anyway, the Russian propaganda machine went into overdrive by first claiming that the convoy was carrying arms and then that the attack may have been carried out by a US Predator Drone  What the Russians forgot to mention is that a Predator drone can only carry a maximum of 6 Griffin missiles in its best weapons carry as the Griffins warhead only contains a 13lb fragmentation warhead which is why it is used as a precision low-collateral damage weapon.  Yes the Predator can carry Hellfire missiles but it can only carry 2 of them, the more advanced Reaper  is able to carry 4 Hellfire missiles, not enough to take out 31 trucks.

The Russians to this day have denied they had a hand in attacking this convoy I quote the Russian Defence Ministry as of last Tuesday:
“Russian and Syrian warplanes did not carry out any airstrikes on a UN humanitarian aid convoy in the southwest of Aleppo,”
Which they followed with:
“We have closely studied the video footage from where the incident took place and we did not find any signs of any ammunition having hit the convoy. There are no craters, while the vehicles have their chassis intact and they have not been severely damaged, which would have been the case from an airstrike,”
Funny that, you see Ivan, others haven't bothered with looking at video coverage and actually sent people to investigate the area and guess what they have found, Russian air launched weapons such as:
OFAB 250-270

S-5 aerial rockets

The first picture shows what looks like the tail assembly of the Russian OFAB 250-270 dumb bomb. Here is a RT video of Russian planes loaded for bear. Note the rear of the bombs, In fact blogger 'Bellingcat' does a much better job than me, in pointing the finger of Blame at Moscow.

The S-5 rockets, why there are standard issue for Russian Helicopters , which are also used by....Syria.

Its appears that the Russians lie like a cheap Russian Watch

The difference between a Russian and a Combined Joint Task Force airstriks

(Syria) Whilst I won't say the Russian involvement hasn't been effective (a lot more than the US effort), they have resorted to blanket bombing a target in which to get the job done. The vast majority of their missions have used bombs no different than those used during WWII. The US-led coalition on the other hand have used precision guided munitions (PGM) combined with targeting pods in which to surgically strike idiots such as ISIS. Here is one such example north of the Syrian city of Manbij on the 5th July 2016.

Syria: Video of Russian Air Force bombing a rebel fuel convoy

(Syria) One of the reasons why the Russians have done so well inside Syria is simply due to the fact that they haven't bogged down their troops with worrying about the human rights of terrorists or bystanders in the target zone. They had gone for total war, and total war is what the enemy have received. Hey, I'm not saying what they are doing is right, yet the fact remains that in under a year they have achieved much more by simply killing the other fellow rather than pandering to his whims as the West likes to do.

Here is one such example where a fuel convoy has been parked up next to houses west of Aleppo in which to use civilians as human shields. (On that note, where are the hundreds of Western human shields ready to deploy if the UK/US or Israel are going to attack? They haven't surfaced to protect terrorists and despots from the Russian Air Force. Funny that). The West wouldn't dream of hitting a target so close to civilian accommodation. Problem for the terrorists, it wasn't the West that hit them.
Not only that but the weapon in use above is definitely a cluster bomb. So I have to ask, where are the liberals? (You know, those who scream the loudest when  its the US/UK or Israel in their crosshairs.)

Did the Russians shoot down their own helicopter in Syria by mistake?

(Syria) Last week, a Mi-35 (Hind) helicopter was downed inside Syria
with the Russians making a huge song and dance about how it was shot down by an American (Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided) TOW missile.

The thing is while it is possible for a TOW Missile to intercept a helicopter , it becomes much harder if the target is at height and at speed, which is something most anti-tank guided missiles simply cannot do, the TOW2 A like most TOWs has a further limiting factor it is wire guided, yes when it is launched, it spools two fine fibre optical wires behind it, which allows the controller to guide it onto its target.

Initially the Russians reported that no aircraft had been shot down and that everybody was accounted for:
All Russian combat helicopters in Syria have returned from combat missions to the airbase, a spokesman for the Russian airbase at Hmeimim said on Friday. "All Russian combat helicopters deployed in Syria have safely returned to the airdromes upon completion of their missions," he said. "There are no losses among Russian aircraft."
But, when a video was published showing the downing of this Mi-35, the Russians admitted that they had lost 2 pilots, however, they were testing a Syrian helicopter when it was hit.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that Daesh terrorists shot down a helicopter near Syria’s Palmyra, killing two Russian military instructor pilots. On July 8, Russian military instructor pilots conducted a test flight of a Syrian Mi-25 helicopter (export version of the Mi-24 helicopter), when it received a request from the Syrian authorities to carry out airstrikes against a large group of Daesh terrorists advancing to the east of Palmyra, the ministry said. "The crew received a request from the Syrian unit’s command to strike the advancing fighters. The captain, Ryafagat Khabibulin, made a decision to attack the terrorists. The skillful actions of the Russian crew thwarted the terrorists’ advance. When the helicopter’s ammunition was spent and it changed its course to the opposite direction, it was shot down by terrorists from the ground and crashed in an area controlled by the Syrian government army. The helicopter’s crew was killed."
The thing is, the video shows a Mi-35 and not a Mi-24 as used by the Syrians (the Mi-24 has a retractable undercarriage, the Mi-35 doesn't, the helicopter in the video has a solid undercarriage). Also, all Mi-35 are fitted with a Vitebsk APS protection system designed to protect them from missile attack.

So what brought down the Mi-35 then? Well, according to Ruslan Leviev, it could have been brought down by its wingman who was behind the front Mi-35 as they were strafing enemy positions. His post goes into much greater detail than mine, which explains how there is no sign of a missile approaching the downed helicopter, how the smoke plumes which are seen from the S-5 rockets launched from the helicopter are mirrored exactly at the site of the explosion.

So what exactly did bring down the Russian helicopter? According to Moscow, it was a nasty American anti-tank weapon. Well, that looks to be most incorrect. Could the Russians be covering up a blue-on-blue incident?

Incendiary weapons in use inside Syria

Remember the outrage when Israel used white smoke rounds during their bun-fight with Hamas, the Islamic and liberal world went ape-shite :

The eyes naturally look at the centre of the picture, yet look at the bottom what do you see, Lots of Smoke. which what the idiots didn't want you to see, all they could scream is ...White Phosphorus.

Now here is a video of the Syria/Russian Airforce of the aftermath of an incendiary cluster bomb being dropped in Aleppo:
and here's another:
and another:
Amazing how the liberal world remains silent, even more amazing at how they remain silent on the huge death count inside Syria. But when Israel takes out a few hundred terrorists inside Gaza, its a different ball game. Oh look there's that 'H' word again

Aftermath of Russian bombing of ISIS capital ; Raqqa.

(Syria) The self proclaimed capital of ISIS  received a little something from the Russians the other day when they did to ISIS what these warped wankers have been doing to everybody else. They blew up part of the city.  Whilst I don't subscribe to the death and injury of anybody, I have no problem with these psychotic idiots getting a taste of their own medicine. (And before somebody points innocent people, err, I'd bet that all the non ISIS people left the city years ago, or have been killed off)
