A Pakistani terrorist and a soldier — were killed in an
ongoing operation against infiltrators in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on
Wednesday. Four soldiers were also injured in the cross fire. The gunfire
started on Tuesday morning when the Army spotted a group of Pakistani infiltrators
in Katwara forest area in Machil sector, Kupwara district, more than 120 km
north of Srinagar. As the area was dense forest range, troops carried out the
combing operation carefully.
Elsewhere five soldiers were injured in the exchange of
fire, one of them succumbed to injuries later. “One terrorist is believed dead too. The operation is on,”
the sources said. The Army has not officially confirmed any casualty.
