(Minchinabad) After 19 years of marriage, Shama Bibi was divorced by her husband Rasheed Ahmad when she started working as a maid after they hit a period of financial hardship. Ahmad was unhappy with his (then) wife for working without his permission and accused her of having a bad character, so he divorced her. On her divorce, she moved to Lahore along with her eldest son.
On Sunday, when she went to visit their 5 children at his house in Minchinabad in Bahawalnagar, Rasheed, the brave man as he is, decided to teach her a lesson. So, picking up a tack hammer, he gouged out her eyes and fractured her legs in five places and then, like a true Muslim male, did a runner.
Her family rushed Ms Bibi to a hospital in Minchinabad, while Ahmed was picked up by the police two hours later. He admitted to attacking and blinding his ex-wife, telling police:
