Pakistan to shut down mobile phone network on Sunday for security matters

(Islamabad) Sunday sees the Shia Islam holy day of Yaum-e-Ali, and as Pakistan is a Sunni Muslim country, it means that the government has to take extra precautions in which to protect the Shia population from the intolerance expressed by their so called Sunni religious brothers.

Which is why the Pakistani government has instigated a huge security crackdown. This will entail:
  • 16,000 personnel of rangers and police to be deployed
  •  Suspension of mobile phone services for a day in which to prevent idiots from using the phone network to set off explosive devices
  • A ban in place for three days on pillion riding
  • Metal detectors and walk-through gates have been installed at all major congregation sites
So much for a religion of peace, eh?
