(Naypyidaw) In a first for China, Burma has selected to purchase its much cheaper version of the F-16, the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation JF-17. A single engined multi-role combat aircraft, it was designed by China in which to allow Pakistan to bulk up its air-force with a cheap, affordable jet. The Pakistani Airforce, once they got the basic airframe, then fitted it out with Western avionics in which to come up with something of a pretty good aircraft which, while capable, is a lot cheaper than its Western counterparts. As of last December, China has been producing the block 2 version of the aircraft. While a large number of third world countries have looked at the plane, until now, Pakistan has been the only one to field it.
