ICE agent shot in Texas conducting investigation

(Fox News) An agent for ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations was shot Tuesday morning in Texas while conducting surveillance in a criminal investigation, a spokeswoman from the agency said.

The shooting occurred in Hidalgo County, Texas. The agent is currently in surgery for a gunshot wound, the spokeswoman said. He was shot twice in the abdomen shortly before 4 a.m. and is expected to survive, The Monitor’s website reported. His identity was not immediately available.

A reporter for the paper said the victim was placed in a ambulance and rushed to the McAllen Medical Center at speeds up to 100 mph.

The scene, described as a remote and brushy area, was packed with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and an investigation is ongoing, the report said.
