UK: Terror suspect Haroon Aswat is extradited to the United States


Haroon Aswat, who was once dubbed Abu Hamza's deputy, is extradited to the United States, where he is alleged to have set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon.
(Telegraph) A British man, Haroon Rashid Aswat, has been extradited to the United States, where he is wanted for terror related offences, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

The 40-year-old from Dewsbury in West Yorkshire, who was once dubbed Abu Hamza's deputy, is alleged to have travelled to the US in 1999 with the intention of setting up a Jihadist training camp in Oregon.

Aswat, who suffers from mental illness, was taken from Broadmoor hospital to a UK airport where he was met by representatives from the US authorities, who accompanied him on a flight to America.
