(Syria) An ambush Saturday on the Syrian side of the border with Lebanon killed at least six rebels, leaving  nine other people wounded.

Two Islamist Lebanese-Swedish brothers who left their Scandinavian home for Lebanon, have died fighting alongside Syrian rebels, it was revealed on Saturday.Hassan and Moatasem Deeb "were killed Friday in a rebel assault on the Abu Zeid army checkpoint near Qalaat al-Hosn" in Homs province, Moatasem, 18, blew himself up in a suicide car bomb at the checkpoint, and Hassan, 21, died in the assault that followed.Their deaths have devastated their parents, who had already lost a third son Rabih to sectarian fighting in Tripoli last year.

(Iraq) A top Iraqi army officer survived a bombing on Saturday that killed nine soldiers during an operation against al-Qaida militants north of Baghdad, while 15 people died in other attacks.

(Pakistan) An argument over a Mobile Phone  saw a girl slit her elder sister's throat over a cellular phone on Saturday,police arrested the girl, who said that she had no remorse over killing her sister.

(Afghanistan) An explosion outside the Indian Consulate in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, near the border with Pakistan, killed nine Afghan civilians Saturday.All of the dead were children from a religious school located near the consulate in a crowded area of Jalalabad, the officials said. The Indian government said none of its consular staff members was hurt.

Hundreds of local residents in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan on Thursday took to the streets to protest against the rape and murder of a 12-year-old teenager boy. The 12-year-old boy recognized as Zabiullah was raped and brutally murdered in the 6th district of Maimana city by unknown individuals.

(Russia) Ilyas Ilyasov a Muslim cleric was shot dead Saturday in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus republic of Dagestan. Ilyasov is the third cleric attacked this year in Dagestan. Eight more Muslim clerics, including the head of a powerful Sufi brotherhood, were killed in Dagestan in 2012, it said. Most of them were opposed to Salafism, an austere, militant sect of Islam whose opponents want to establish an independent Islamist state in Russia's Northern Caucasus and other regions with a sizable Muslim population.
