(Nigeria) At least 35 people have been killed in two separate gun battles between Nigerian security forces and Islamist sect Boko Haram in northeast Borno. In the first incident, Boko Haram gunmen on Sunday attacked a police base in Bama, a town close to the Cameroon border. One policeman and 17 members of Boko Haram were killed during the fighting, while two soldiers were injured. The terrorists left behind four trucks, three motorbikes, dozens of explosive devices, three rocket-propelled grenades, 10 AK-47 rifles and over 100 rounds of ammunition.
In the second incident, Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military base in the town of Malam Fatori, triggering a gun battle that left two soldiers and 15 of its members dead.
(Philippines) A bomb attached to a vehicle has exploded in the southern Philippines city of Cotabato, killing six people. At least 29 others were wounded when the bomb went off in a busy commercial street during the afternoon rush hour.
(Afghanistan) Four civilians died and 22 others were hurt in a car bombing Monday in Kandahar city.
(Iraq) 9 people were killed and eight wounded in separate attacks in northern and central Iraq.
Also Monday , Iraqi security forces conducted a sweep for terrorists in Sulaman Pek, a town 160 km (100 miles) north of Baghdad, resulting in the deaths of 11 terrorists when they opened fire on the troops as they moved into the area.
(Syria) At least 51 people were killed in Syria overnight. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that at least 32 government troops and militiamen and at least 19 rebels, including foreign fighters, died in Sunday’s fighting.
(Yemen) 2 worshippers and 12 others wounded Monday evening in Al Mahwit governorate, northwest Yemen when some silly twat left a bomb outside a mosque. Gee, what did that prove?
(Sudan) A clash between forces from Sudan and South Sudan saw 1 Sudanese soldier killed.
(Pakistan) A bomb placed on the Shalimar Express from the eastern city of Lahore to Karachi went off as it passed through fields near the town of Toba Tek Singh in Punjab province killing three and wounding 14 people. Again , I ask the question, Why?
