Rabbi Shot, Killed While Walking to North Miami Beach Temple

(NBC) Police are searching for two suspects who shot and killed an Orthodox Jewish rabbi while he was walking to his temple in North Miami Beach on Saturday morning.

Miami-Dade Police said 60-year-old Joseph Raksin was walking on the 800 block of NE 175th Street around 9 a.m. when two young males approached him. Raksin was shot during the altercation.

Raksin was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where he died.

The two suspects fled the scene, one on a bike and one on foot, according to police. Police do not yet have a good description of the shooters, and have not determined if this is a hate crime.

Godly solders in Miami protect your leaders
While there is reason to be concerned about Muslim extremists, I do think you're jumping the gun by calling this a Jihad (how many Islamists do you know who ride a bicycle to a murder?).

This shooting death happened right in my neighborhood. It was most likely the work of two members of the many gangs that have plagued our city for years. The Orthodox Jews happen to be "easy targets" by these gangs as they always walk to the synagogues in the area, and they are not customarily armed. This is a horrific and unspeakably sad crime, but it was most likely not the work of Islamic extremists. At least not yet, anyway.

I am, however, eternally vigilant!
