(Syria) Rebels fighting the Syrian regime captured the Syrian side of the Quneitra checkpoint, the only border crossing point between Israel and Syria yesterday. However, during the fighting, 6 mortar rounds impacted on the Israeli side and an Israeli officer was moderately injured with wounds to the chest. He was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam hospital in Haifa.
The IDF said it had not determined whether the mortars were fired into Israel intentionally or were a spillover from fighting between rival factions on the Syrian side of the border. In response Israeli forces hit two Syrian army positions.
