Along the way, the unions scammed and the elected governments were all too happy to go along.
It was pointed out by a number of people on the news that in Detroit, government jobs were routinely paid 5 to 10 times what the scale was in other cities and that union pensions can reap a city employee $100,000 per year (some much higher) plus health benefits in retirement.
People should look at Detroit as the harbinger of what happens when entitlements and public unions run amok with government help.
