(New York) Two
nephews of Venezuela's first lady have been sent down in the US on smuggling
drugs charges. Efrain Campo, 30, and his
cousin Francisco Flores, 31 received sentences of 18 years in jail on Thursday
for their part in a conspiracy to smuggle almost one ton of cocaine into the United
States via the use of the Venezuelan airport's presidential hangar
The two were arrested in Haiti in November 2015 by
the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) whilst their defence and family
tried to send the message that these were innocent men entrapped by the US for
political purposes. Mobile phone messages showing their links to violent crime
(Including pictures of beheaded people who had crossed them) said otherwise.
No doubt their uncle won't be happy
