ISIS linked to deadly bombing in Libya

(FT) Dozens of people were killed or injured when a truck laden with explosives slammed into the gates of a military training camp in Libya on Thursday.

Medical officials in the city told Reuters news agency that at least 65 people were killed in the attack, which targeted police recruits gathering at the training centre. Many more were injured.

The hospital in Zliten was reported to be overwhelmed and the health ministry has ordered five others in Tripoli and in Misurata, 60km to the east, to receive casualties. Health authorities have appealed for blood donations.

Aamaq, a media group linked to Isis, said the militant organisation was behind the “martyrdom operation” but there has been no formal claim of responsibility.
