UK: Pakistani doctor in court over charges he sexually assaulted 10 patients

(Birmingham) 50-year-old Nafees Hamid, a Pakistani neurosurgeon working in the UK, is in the dock over allegations he likes to touch up female patients when they come to see him. The surgeon, who worked for the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, is charged with six sexual assaults and other offences of a serious sexual nature.

Opening the case against the consultant, prosecutor Jonas Hankin QC alleged Mr Hamid targeted 10 women ranging in age from their early 20s to their mid-60s between 2009 and 2013.

He told jurors Mr Hamid performed "inappropriate and medically unjustifiable intimate examinations" on each of the women, including one of a patient waiting to be taken to an operating theatre.
"He ignored General Medical Council guidelines about intimate examinations and failed to record the examination findings in the case records so as to cover his tracks."
Naturally, Mr Hamid has denied all 14 charges against him.
