Dutch Government informs military not to wear uniform in public

(Den Haag) The Dutch Government today said it would send 6 F-16 jets to the Middle East in which support the campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. However, fearful that some Islamist idiot may seek revenge by attacking somebody in a military uniform, the Government sent the message out advising members of the Dutch military not to travel in public in uniform.

Same here in Australia: ADF personnel are advised to consider whether they need to wear their uniform to and from their workplace, be mindful of their surroundings whilst in uniform etc etc. They never had to previously(err perhaps after "Vietnam"), yet we can't now say whom in the community finds their uniforms so infuriating.
We've had a few reports of assaults, men standing over our servicemen and a particularly concerning case: several men of "Middle-Eastern appearance" approached the home of an ADF officer, asked his wife if "someone in the army lives here". She smartly answered "no", likely she knows what we'd all think in the same situation: they're looking for suitable place for home invasion - safe place for beheadings.

Australian media are constantly teasing us the tired lines: perhaps if we just left them alone they'd stop killing us(appeasement), if we stay out of the ISIS conflict, we won't be a target for them(cowardice).
As these events unfold so close to home(our very streets), hopefully the public opinion and conversation will turn around on the value of Islam in contemporary Western societies.
