France halts amphibious assault ship sale to Russia

(Paris) The Russian military under Putin quickly realised that they didn't produce the best weapons in the world and that they could do no wrong with buying stuff off the old enemy. So with cash in the bank, they went shopping. One of the things (well, actually a couple) they bought was the French made Mistral amphibious assault ship. A very capable craft indeed, which has the capability to move 900 men, 40 tanks and 16 helicopters 6,000 miles.

The Russians loved it and couldn't wait to get their hands on it. However, Tzar Putin's ambitions of a holy Russian Empire at the expense of Ukraine's sovereign territory has forced France to put the sale on hold, and so they are now left with two ships for sale.

I hear the Canadians, Indians and South Africans are in the market?
