UK: HMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier

(UK) HMS Queen Elizabeth is the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carriers and, unlike other large carriers, she is not fitted with catapults and arresting wires and is instead designed to operate V/STOL aircraft consisting of F-35B Lightning II and Merlin helicopters for airborne early warning and anti-submarine warfare.

In other words, a glorified helicopter carrier, a huge waste of tax payers’ money for a white elephant which really hasn't any offensive capability whatsoever. That is what happens when politicians get involved with military purchasing who are more interested in winning votes in the areas where this ship was built, in which to remain in power rather than in furnishing the British Armed Forces with the appropriate tools in which to do their job.
