(India) Inter-religious relations in India between Muslims and Hindus are being strained by news that a young Hindu woman who taught English in a local mosque was kidnapped on the 30th of July by a gang of males who took her to a mosque in an adjoining town and forcibly converted her to Islam, which they topped off by giving her an Islamic name. They then covered her up in a veil and moved her to a third mosque in another town and gang-raped her for three days.
She managed to escape and return home too her family who informed the police. The thing is, when she was first kidnapped, they reported this to the police which did nothing. Which is why the officer in charge of the police station has been removed from his post.
Police, spurned on by the removal of the Indian version of Chief Wigum, have now arrested three people, including the girl's village's Islamic preacher and two others.
Unfortunately, as is the case in third world countries, gangs of Hindu youths have descended on the area and, as we have seen all too often in the past, it doesn't even take a match to start a bushfire.
