(Fox News) A 15-year-old girl was beheaded by her cousin after she rejected his marriage proposal, an official in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz told Efe Thursday.
The crime occurred Wednesday in the district of Khanabad, provincial police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hosseini said.
The cousin, Sadeq, and one of his friends ambushed the girl as she was fetching water for her family, the spokesman said.
The girl's father had rebuffed several approaches by Sadeq's family urging that the two be wed, insisting his daughter was too young for marriage.
"Police have arrested Sadeq and his friend Massoud and both are in custody," Hosseini said. EFE
