BANGALORE, India (AFP) — Executives from regional TV stations in southern India on Saturday demanded action against lawyers in Bangalore city who attacked journalists and police, injuring around 20 people.
Video footage showed rampaging lawyers at a court complex in Bangalore, India's software hub, on Friday assaulting TV camera crews and pelting onlookers and police with furniture and bottles during a brawl.
The journalists, many seen bleeding and bruised in television footage, said they were attacked because of their coverage of a lawyers' street protest last month against an alleged police assault on a fellow advocate.
The lawyers have alleged that the media coverage of their protest showed them in a bad light and was unfair.
