Iraq: US airstrike takes out Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force commander, Qasem Soleimani

(Baghdad) This evening a US airstrike near to Baghdad international airport took out Qasem Soleimani  the Iranian commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps along with  Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis the commander of Iran's proxy Popular Mobilisation Forces inside Iraq

It appears that al-Muhandis had arrived at  the airport in a convoy to pick up Soleimani  who had just landed at the airport . The airstrike occurred as soon as he descended from the plane to be greeted by al-Muhandis and his companions, killing them all.

Also on the plane with Soleimani were two senior members of Lebanon's Hezbollah who are reported to have been the main targets of the USAF drone strike They had both had arrived from Damascus via Cham Wings Flight No. 6Q501. One of them is reported to be Mohammad Al-Kothrani!
