Syria: Iran given go ahead to build Military naval base in Latakia

(Damascus) News (unconfirmed) is coming in that President Assad has been forced by Moscow to allow Iran to build a Naval base in the city of Latakia.

It is widely reported that the Syrian Government (and troops) or even the Russians have much time for Iranian forces inside their country (or even their lackeys Hezbollah). However, with Moscow looking to the wider picture, it appears they have forced Damascus to allow Iran to build a naval base inside the country in which to allow Iran to take some pressure off of the Kremlin. At a stroke, Tehran can reinforce Hezbollah safe under the umbrella of the Russians next door, they can threaten Israel (and her oil platforms) and they now have a platform in which to carry out mischief across the Med.
