Report: Belgium prevented terrorist attacks by jihadists returning from Syria

Islamic jihad is spreading its wings in Europe.
(JPost) Belgium has thwarted attacks by jihadist fighters returning from war-torn Syria, the L'Echo newspaper reported on Saturday.

According to the report, security and justice sources said the planned attacks were similar in their scope to the one carried out by Mehdi Nemmouche at the Jewish Museum of Brussels on May 24.

90 Belgians who fought in Syria have returned to the country, a source stated – "among them, one out of nine intends to carry out an attack."

That estimate was "conservative," the report went on, "if one also takes into account people who provide logistical support for these attacks."
