Moral blow for Nigerian Army, as 500 troops retreat from Boko Haram into Cameroon

(Nigeria) A mass retreat by 500 Nigerian soldiers after they ran out of ammunition while under attack from Islamic terrorists exemplifies just how ill prepared Nigeria is. This embarrassment comes hot on the heels after elements of the Nigerian army refused to follow orders to go and fight Boko Haram, saying the terrorists were better equipped. Beset with graft, nepotism and feuding internal politics, the last thing Nigeria needs is micro-managing of the troops for political purposes, because in doing so, the terrorist elements will only get stronger.

Once across the border, the troops were disarmed by the Cameroon army and are being accommodated in schools.

Face saving statements from the Nigerian Government claim that the troops got lost while fighting the terrorists and found themselves a few miles inside Cameron after chasing Boko Haram terrorists who they had caught trying to sneak into the country.
