Syria: Russian SU 25 jet shot down.

(Damascus) A Russian SU-25 ground-attack aircraft has been shot down in a rebel-held area in Syria's north-western province of Idlib. Roman Fillipov the pilot managed to eject however he landed into an area controlled by the jihadist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham alliance and he was killed after a brief gunfight.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham said it had shot down the plane. In response the Russians hit the area with a saturation cruise missile attack.
The Russian equivalent of the  USAF A10 over 1000 SU 25s have been built and it has served in over 28 different Air forces.  Like the A10, Russia implemented an upgrade program resulting in the SU25SM, which is believed to be the craft with was shot down yesterday.
