Ramadan death count round up: 01/06/17

(Algiers) Gunmen attacked an Algerian military patrol in an area south of the capital, slightly wounding four gendarmes, the Ministry of Defence said, in an attack later claimed by ISIS. No count.

(Cameroon) Two female suicide bombers were killed while two other people injured in Cameroon's Far North Region near the Nigerian border. The first blew herself up when she noticed that members of the vigilance committee had spotted her. The second girl, who was also carrying explosives, was shot dead by soldiers of the Rapid Intervention Battalion.

(Niger) Gunmen killed six security agents in southwestern Niger. The attackers opened fire on a security post in the town of Abala, about 150 km (90 miles) northeast of the capital Niamey, at around 7 p.m. (1800 GMT) on Wednesday, killing four national guard troops and two gendarmes.

(Mali) France admitted that it has lost a soldier in clashes with Islamic terrorists. The soldier was the most seriously injured in a mortar attack Thursday on a United Nations peacekeeping camp in Mali.

(Kenya) Al Shabaab terrorists killed one person and destroyed a telecom mast in an attack on the town of Fafi in north-eastern Kenya.

(Afghanistan) A suicide car bomber detonated his explosives close to the Jalalabad airport in eastern Nangarhar province early Thursday. The bomber detonated his explosives at a check point in the city killing a soldier and wounding another.
