Germany: Afghan asylum seeker stabs woman to death because she converted to Christianity

(Prien) Last Saturday at around 18:30, a 38-year-old woman (Fatima S.) was fatally stabbed in front of her 2 children outside a supermarket in Bavaria. Shoppers, including an off duty policewoman, quickly overpowered her atatcker.

Fatima S.
Police have revealed that the attacker is a 29-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who arrived in Germany in 2013. His victim (Fatima S.) was also an Afghan asylum seeker who arrived in 2011. However, it transpires that she converted to Christianity, and that is now believed to be the reason why her fellow countryman on Saturday lay in wait for her whilst she shopped, and on her exit from the supermarket he shouted to the woman that she had to die for leaving Islam. He then proceeded to stab her in the head numerous times which he then followed up by slitting her throat. She died 4 hours later in the hospital. The suspect has been detained in a psychiatric hospital.

As Prien am Chiemsee is such a small town (population 10K), it is presumed that as both the victim and attacker were Afghan asylum seekers, they knew each other.
