Japanese hostage Kenji Goto reportedly beheaded by ISIS

CIA and Mossad killed senior Hezbollah figure in car bombing

(WaPo) On Feb. 12, 2008, Imad Mughniyah, Hezbollah’s international operations chief, walked on a quiet nighttime street in Damascus after dinner at a nearby restaurant. Not far away, a team of CIA spotters in the Syrian capital was tracking his movements.

As Mughniyah approached a parked SUV, a bomb planted in a spare tire on the back of the vehicle exploded, sending a burst of shrapnel across a tight radius. He was killed instantly.

The device was triggered remotely from Tel Aviv by agents with Mossad, the Israeli foreign intelligence service, who were in communication with the operatives on the ground in Damascus. “The way it was set up, the U.S. could object and call it off, but it could not execute,” said a former U.S. intelligence official.

The United States helped build the bomb, the former official said, and tested it repeatedly at a CIA facility in North Carolina to ensure the potential blast area was contained and would not result in collateral damage.

Yazidi militia makes public request for Israeli help

Kurdish religious minority ‘loves the Jewish people,’ says commander, as he tries to fight the Islamic State.
(Times of Israel) An official in a militia organized by Iraq’s Kurdish Yazidi minority has issued a public call for Israeli assistance.

Lt. Col. Lukman Ibrahim, speaking to Al-Monitor, said the militia needs weapons and aid, and would like Israeli assistance so it can fight Islamic State, or ISIS. He said the Yazidis support Israel and fight similar enemies.

Israel has yet to respond to the Yazidi request.

The militia, with 12,000 members, was organized in August to defend against ISIS, which has persecuted and killed the minority since capturing Yazidi cities last year. Most of the fighters are untrained.

“We appeal to the Israeli government and its leader to step in and help this nation, which loves the Jewish people,” Ibrahim was quoted as saying by Al-Monitor. “We would be most grateful for the establishment of military ties — for instance, the training of fighters and the formation of joint teams. We are well aware of the circumstances the Israelis are in, and of the suffering they have endured at the hands of the Arabs ever since the establishment of their state. We, too, are suffering on account of them.”

A Yazidi doctor who lives in Germany said that Yazidis and Jews can also find common ground in both being victims of genocide.

“What happened to us is the biggest genocide since the Holocaust of the Jews in Europe,” said Dr. Mirza Dinnay, a pediatrician, told Al-Monitor. “In the Holocaust, the goal was to annihilate an entire people, the Jews. IS has a similar plan — to exterminate an entire people, the Yazidis.”

The Yazidi commander’s call echoed the pleas of a Yazidi father in Jerusalem, whose family was trapped by IS on Mt. Sinjar over the summer.

“I ask, in my name, and in the name of the Yazidis, that Israel and Europe help us against the Islamic State,” he said to the Times of Israel in August. “I ask that the State of Israel protect us from the Islamists, tens of thousands of people, my family alone is 20 people. Put it on Facebook, put it on YouTube.”

“I wish Netanyahu would let us live here,” he added. “I wish he would give the Yazidi some land.”

Yazidis are monotheists who follow an ancient syncretic Kurdish religion influenced by Zoroastrianism, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. They number around 500,000, mostly in northern Iraq, Turkey, and Syria. Yazidis revere an archangel, Malek Taus (the Peacock Angel), whom they believe God entrusted to run the world after he refused to bow down to Adam.

Local Muslims, however, call them devil worshipers, because according to the Islamic version of the story, the angel who refused to bow down to Adam, Iblis, was cast down to hell, where he became Satan. Yazidis have long been persecuted by Muslims, and are often looked down on as uneducated and dirty. They do not let their children marry Muslims, and their society has seen high-profile honor killings of girls accused of pursuing relationships with Muslims.

The Yazidis’ tense history with Muslims makes them a prime target for the Islamic State. In August, IS issued an ultimatum to tens of thousands of people from the Yazidi community to convert to Islam, pay a religious fine and flee their homes, or face death. The UN mission in Iraq, known as UNAMI, said as many as 200,000 civilians, mostly Yazidis, fled to Mt. Sinjar, but were surrounded by militants and endangered. At least 40 children from those displaced from Sinjar were killed in the violence, UNICEF said.

During a parliamentary session in August, a Yazidi lawmaker broke down in tears as she urged the government and the international community to save her people from being massacred or starved into extinction.

“We are being slaughtered; our entire religion is being wiped off the face of the earth. I am begging you, in the name of humanity,” said Vian Dakhil.

Ties between Israel and the Kurds in general run deep. A Mossad officer named Sagi Chori was sent to help his close friend, the late iconic Kurdish leader Mulla Mustafa Barzani, manage the Kurds’ battles against the Iraqi army in the 1960s. (The partnership has been well-documented in Kurdish and Israeli media.) And reports of Israel training Kurdish commandos continue to surface. Nationalist Kurds tend to see Israel as a role model for an independent Kurdistan, a small nation surrounded by enemies and bolstered by a strategic partnership with the United States.

Israel has long developed alliances with non-Arab countries on the periphery of the Middle East. Today, that policy rests on partnerships with Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, and Caucasian and central Asian countries. Kurdistan fits perfectly into that framework.

If Kurds gain independence, they will likely open full diplomatic relations with Israel. “The Kurds are the only nation in the region that has not been filled with hatred toward Israel and America,” said Selam Saadi, chief editor of Kurdish news site Rudaw. “The way Kurds see the world is different from Arabs… Generally, Islamists are more powerful in the Arab world, they think that Islamic Sharia is the solution. However, the majority of Kurds believe in a European style of government. The problem is they don’t know how to get there. They don’t have experience.”

Muslims tweet "I am Knife" in praise of Palestinian who stabbed 11 people in Israel today.

(Levant)  Like many others I was struck at the double standards expressed by the Islamic world over the Charlie Hebdo affair. Yes the people who have the most vitriolic, polarised and biased press in the world, especially when it comes to the jew., don't like it when others do likewise to them (But to a much lesser extent) resulting in the entire world reacting out of fear to the faux outrage . In the the UK they will jail you for burning the koran. while burning a bible will result in no charges.

So why am I not surprised where after the latest terrorist attack in Israel where a Palestinian ran amok with a knife on a bus, stabbing 11 people.   The Arabs have responded by expressing their support for this murderous thug by hash-tagging the phrase;#JeSuisCouteau meaning 'I am Knife'

Doctor in court after getting caught carrying out FGM

(London) Female Genital Mutilation or FGM is a truly barbaric practice. It is done solely on the pretext of making the vagina tighter for the male so he can have a better experience. It is carried out primarily (around 99%) by Muslims and it has been illegal in the UK for over 30 years. Yet in all that time not one person has been charged and yet last year it was revealed that there are over 170,000 victims of FGM in the UK.

Well guess what, a doctor was caught sewing up a woman inside a British Hospital the midwife, Aimma Ali, said it was illegal and spoke privately to Dharmasena. He consulted the on-call consultant, Vibha Ruparelia, and explained that he did not know the stitch was illegal. Hello, a doctor living in the UK after all the Media circus which is FGM was caught sewing up a womans bits with help from a man called Mohammed said he didn't know it was illegal . Well Dr Dhanuson Dharmasena and Hasan Mohamed are in court on charges of carrying out FGM. Of course both deny the charges with Dhanuson coming out with:

"He had carried out the procedure because he thought the woman wanted him to. He also said Mr Mohamed had urged him to do so."
But what disturbed me more and kind of explains why no bastard has been prosecuted in the Uk for over 30 years for carrying out this evil act, is how the liberal left rushed to defend this man.
A group of consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists have joined the growing chorus of criticism by maternal health experts of the decision to prosecute a doctor for female genital mutilation.
What is it with these people?

British Muslims complain yet again.

(London) In light of the Pan European call to Jihad, and the corresponding response from the EU. The British Government sent a letter out to all Mosques in the UK and  guess what, the Muslims didn't like it:
In the letter the Government wrote:

“You, as faith leaders, are in a unique position in our society. You have a precious opportunity, and an important responsibility, in explaining and demonstrating how faith in Islam can be part of British identity.
“We believe together we have an opportunity to demonstrate the true nature of British Islam today. There is a need to lay out more clearly than ever before what being a British Muslim means today: proud of your faith and proud of your country. We know that acts of extremism are not representative of Islam, but we need to show what is.
“We must show our young people, who may be targeted, that extremists have nothing to offer them. We must show them that there are other ways to express disagreement, that their right to do so is dependent on the very freedoms that extremists seek to destroy.
“We must show them the multitude of statements of condemnation from British Muslims, show them these men of hate have no place in our mosques or any place of worship, and that they do not speak for Muslims in Britain or anywhere in the world.
“Let us assure you that the government will do all we can to defeat the voices of division, but ultimately the challenges of integration and radicalisation cannot be solved from Whitehall alone. Strong community-based leadership at a local level is needed.”
“British values are Muslim values”, and the country would be “diminished” without Islam and its “message of peace and unity”.
“Every day, mosques and other faith institutions across the country are providing help for those in need, and acting as a centre for our communities.
“It is these positive contributions that are the true messages of faith and it is these contributions that need to be promoted.”

Now, after reading that, doesn't anybody else think it disparages Muslims, yet the Media have been having a field day interviewing Muslims who feel they be3en castigated as terrorists yet again. I quote from the self appointed Muslim council of Britain:

"However, we do take issue with the implication that extremism takes place at mosques, and that Muslims have not done enough to challenge the terrorism that took place in our name."This is why we responded to the media, and an assertion in some quarters, that you were somehow endorsing the idea that Muslims and Islam are inherently apart from British society. We reject such notions. We also reject suggestions that Muslims must go out of their way to prove their loyalty to this country of ours."
Yup, protesting for the sake of protesting and in trying to make themselves look the victims, all they have achieved is made yet more people gravitate to the far right of the political spectrum. Why to go British Muslims.

Canadians become first Western ground troops to take on ISIS

(Iraq) It appears that the first (official) face to face encounter between Western Troops and the unholy thugs of ISIS took place last week.

In a briefing hosted by Brig.-Gen. Michael Rouleau  he revealed that Canadian Special forces who had carried out a planning session with senior Iraqi leaders several kilometres behind the front lines, they came under immediate and effective mortar and machine gunfire. when they moved forward in order to visualise what they had discussed over a map. Unfortunately for Allah's favourite thugs  the Canadians used sniper fire to "neutralise both threats" and there were no Canadian injuries.

Meanwhile slim and underweight film maker Michael Moore had this to say about Snipers today.

France hit by thousands of Islamic cyber attacks

(Paris) It appears that the followers of Islam while feeling free to abuse/torture/kill anybody they want, don't like it when somebody takes the piss out of them. So when Charlie Hebdo published a new cartoon after the Islamic terrorist attack the other week, you just knew that the paedophile loving Islamic masses weren't going to be happy.

Turn the picture upside down
Well other than protesting around the Islamic world and quite literally shitting on their own doorstep , over 20,000 cyber attacks were recorded as aimed at France by Muslims.

Still think its a Religion of peace?

IDF takes out Hezb-allah team in Syrian Golan heights.

(Israel)  On noting that a convoy of vehicles just across the border in Syria contained 5 senior members of Lebanese terrorist group 'Hezb-allah' and 6 Iranian soldiers. Israel sent up a helicopter and in a perfect example of how to treat terrorists sent them packing with 2 air to surface missiles. The now dead followers of Hezballah included the son of former Hezbollah military leader Imad Mughniyeh

Jihad Moughniyah killed in air atatck
Of course as this is the death of a load of allah ackba uttering Islamic terrorists expect the liberals in the West to cry foul play and claim that Islam is a religion of peace. I mean come on how in the hell are Islamic terrorists able to plot their next outrage if they keep on getting killed by Israel.

Saudi Fatwa Bans Snowmen For Being Un-Islamic

(WFB) In northern Saudi Arabia, citizens braved the cold during a rare snowfall to build snow-camels. Some of them constructed traditional camels, while others dressed them up for their favorite sports teams.

A religious scholar in Saudi Arabia reportedly issued a fatwa against building snowmen and snow animals in the country, saying it goes against Islam.

Mohammad Saleh Al Minjed said people may not build any snowmen or snow models of animals, Gulf News reported. He said that any snow replica of a living being–even if it is for fun–is not allowed. Saudis can build lifeless (read: boring) things, such as fruit and buildings.

“We have snow for fleeting days, maybe even hours, and there is always someone who wants to rob us of the joy and the fun,” he posted. “It seems that the only thing left for us is to sit down and drink coffee,” said Mishaal, an angry blogger.

Fifth Column: Muslim Leaders to Hold ‘Stand with the Prophet’ Rally in Texas

Georgetown University professor, virulently anti-American imam to attend.
(WFB) Muslim leaders from across America will gather in Texas this weekend to hold the annual Stand With the Prophet in Honor and Respect conference, a weekend forum that is being billed as a “movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message,” according to event information.

The Saturday event, which seeks to combat “Islamophobes in America” who have turned the Islamic Prophet Muhammad “into an object of hate,” according to organizers, comes just a week after radicalized Islamists in France killed 17 people.

The victims died in events that began with the shooting attack on French newspaper Charlie Hebdo for its satirical cartoons that skewered the prophet.

Organizers of the event place the blame for Islam’s bad reputation on the media and so-called American Islamophobes who have “invested at least $160 million dollars to attack our Prophet and Islam,” according to the conference web page.

Keynote speakers at the event will include Georgetown University professor John Esposito, founding director of the school’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, which has come under fire for, among other things, hosting 9/11 Truthers and a member of Egypt’s Nazi Party.

Also scheduled to attend the forum is controversial New York-based Imam Siraj Wahhaj, who was an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the 1993 World Trade Center bombings trial. Wahhaj has called the FBI and CIA the “real terrorists” and expressed a desire for all Americans to become Muslim, according to the New York Post.

Organizers of the conference claim that the media and Islamophobes in America are the main reason why Islam and its prophet have such a bad reputation in the Western world.

“This is not an event. It is the beginning of a movement,” organizers write on their website, which blames Americans for giving Islam a bad name. “A movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message.”

“All these accusations were invented by Islamophobes in America,” the group claims. “As we celebrate the Prophet in our now annual, nationwide event: Stand with the Prophet, we recommit ourselves to rectify his image, peace be upon him.”

The event seeks to capitalize on outrage over cartoons and other materials mocking Mohammed in popular culture.

“Frustrated with Islamophobes defaming the Prophet?” the event materials ask. “Fuming over extremists like ISIS who give a bad name to Islam? Remember the Danish cartoons defaming the Prophet? Or the anti-Islam film, ‘Innocence of Muslims’?”

German 'anti-Islamization' march in Dresden draws record numbers

(Reuters) Some 25,000 anti-Islamist protesters marched through the streets of Dresden on Monday, police said, the biggest number so far since a new grassroots movement known as PEGIDA, or Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West, began organizing weekly gatherings in the eastern German city.

Dressed in black and holding banners with anti-immigration slogans, the protesters marched through the streets of Dresden as police and anti-PEGIDA demonstrators looked on.

The rally took place amid calls from politicians to cancel the march and after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Islam belonged to Germany, during a meeting with the Turkish prime minister in Berlin, in a clear repudiation of ongoing anti-immigration marches.

Merkel is due to take take part in a vigil on Tuesday at the Brandenburg Gate in the German capital, organized by a Muslim group to remember the victims of Islamist militant attacks in France.

Clearly, Merkel is wrong

(Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday Islam "belongs to Germany", in a clear repudiation of anti-immigration protesters gathering in Dresden and other cities.
Chancellor Merkel has a problem. Islam thinks Germany belongs to it, not the other way around.

Maybe she should read up on what the Islamist want. It isn't to be part of a Western democracy.

Austria detains teenage girls who wanted to marry IS fighters

"The girls had Bosnian and Chechen family backgrounds."
VIENNA (Reuters) - Austria has detained two teenage girls after they tried to travel to Syria to marry fighters of the jihadist group Islamic State (IS), a spokesman for the prosecution said on Sunday.

The girls, aged 16 and 17, had been sent back to Austria from Romania, where they were picked up by authorities on a train on Dec. 30 as they tried to make their way to Syria to marry IS fighters there.

Around 170 people, many from Eastern Europe, have traveled to the Middle East from Austria to join Islamist militant groups, according to the Interior Ministry.

Austrian authorities in October detained on terrorism-related charges a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly planning to travel to Syria and had researched on the Internet how to build bombs.

The parents of the girls had handed over the phone of the 16-year old to Austrian authorities when she went missing in December. Data taken from a Russian chat application on the phone showed conversations about the girls' plans, a spokesman for the prosecutors in Salzburg said.

The girls were detained in their homes in Salzburg and the province of Upper Austria after they returned from Romania. The girls had Bosnian and Chechen family backgrounds, according to APA news agency.

Pakistani soldier beheaded by Afghan, Pakistani IS supporters

#Islam.
DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Reuters) - A group of Pakistani and Afghan militants have beheaded a Pakistani soldier after pledging allegiance to Islamic State, according to a new video released online, copying execution tactics used by the Middle East jihadist group.

In the video, whose authenticity could not immediately be confirmed, a large group of turbaned militants, many on horseback and holding rifles and black IS flags, are seen gathered in an undisclosed forested area.

A militant identified by the SITE intelligence group as former Pakistani Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid is then seen addressing the crowd to announce pledges of allegiance to IS from leaders of various groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"We want to inform you that we have brought together the emirs of 10 groups who want to pledge their allegiance to the Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi," he said, referring to the IS leader.

At the end of the 16-minute video a man wearing a helmet, a T-shirt and combat trousers, identified as a Pakistani soldier, is seen being beheaded with a machete.

According to SITE, those present during the execution included both Afghan and Taliban militants but nothing was known about the beheaded soldier or how he was captured.

Where is Obama?

(GretaWire) Besides the fact that this is wrong, this is embarrassing to the American people – President Obama should not have snubbed the events in Paris today – 40+ other world leaders showed up!

40 world leaders go and President Obama snubs it? huh?

40 world leaders are taking part in a unity March in Paris today but our President is not going. Leaders from Britain (Prime Minister David Cameron), Germany (Chancellor Angela Merkel), Turkey, Jordan, Israel (PM Netanyahu), etc.

Sure A/G Eric Holder (who has resigned is a lame duck now) is going but he is not the President. He didn’t even bother to send the Vice President!

And, as I recall, it was French President Jacque Chirac who was the first foreign Head of State to show up at the White House after 9/11. Is this how we send a thank you?

According to reports, there is nothing on President Obama’s schedule that would have prevented him from going — and he does have Air Force One.

This is embarrassing for the American people. Don’t we have better manners when it comes to our allies at a time of need?

Muslim Terrorism: Belgian Newspaper 'Le Soir' Evacuated Due to Bomb Scare After Reprinting Mohammed Cartoons

(INN) The Belgian newspaper Le Soir, which republished the French cartoons of Charlie Hebdo, evacuated its building today (Sunday) following an anonymous phoned in bomb threat, reports AFP.

Maroun Labaki, who is in charge of the paper's foreign pages, told the Belga news agency that "an anonymous caller made threats against the editorial side of the paper, after which we decided to evacuate the building." Martine Dubisson, who writes for Le Soir, tweeted that the caller said "a bomb was going to go off in your newsroom."

Police closed off the streets around the paper's offices.

ISIS battle in Iraq kills 30 Kurds

BAGHDAD (AP) – Islamic State group fighters attempting to retake a town in northern Iraq held by Kurdish pershmerga forces have killed at least 30 Kurds, an Iraqi military spokesman said Sunday.

The fighting began Saturday as the extremists approached the town of Gwer, just outside of the northern city of Mosul, which the Islamic State group controls, said Halgurd Hekmat, a spokesman for Iraqi Kurdish forces in Irbil. Hekmat said he had no information about casualties suffered by the Islamic State group.

Backed by U.S.-led airstrikes, Kurdish forces retook Gwer in August after the Islamic State group's offensive saw it seize a wide swath of Iraq. Kurdish fighters from Iraq also have deployed in small numbers to help Syrian Kurds battle the group's fighters in the Syrian border town of Kobani.

Gwer sits near Irbil, the Kurdish regional capital. Retaking it would allow Islamic State group fighters a new base to potentially launch assaults targeting the city.

Earlier this month, peshmerga fighters also retook small villages around the militant-held town of Sinjar, opening a corridor to help hundreds of Yazidi families atop nearby Mount Sinjar.

The Islamic State group, which has declared a self-styled caliphate, holds about a third of Iraq and neighboring Syria.

On Saturday, the U.S. military said in a statement it carried out 12 strikes on the group in Syria and three strikes in Iraq. Eleven of the coalition airstrikes in Syria targeted Islamic State group positions around the border town of Kobani near Turkey.

Muslim terrorism: Pastor shot dead in gun attack in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) – A police official says gunmen believed to be members of an extremist group have shot dead a pastor in Kenya's coastal town, Mombasa.

Henry Ondiek, who is in charge of criminal investigations at the coast, said Sunday the pastor was shot at the entrance of the Mvita Primary School which hosts the Maximum Revival Centre, a mosque and another church and is guarded by police.

Ondiek did not say who was responsible for the attack, but it falls into a pattern of gun and explosive attacks at the Kenyan coast blamed on the al-Qaida-linked al-shabab militant group from Somalia.

Al-Shabab has vowed retribution for the presence of Kenyan troops fighting the militant group in Somalia. Kenya has suffered string of attacks since it deployed troops to Somalia in Oct 2011.

Germany's justice minister calls for anti-Islam rally to be canceled

BERLIN (AP) – Germany's justice minister is calling on organizers of anti-Islam rallies in Dresden to cancel a planned protest Monday out of respect for the victims of the terror attacks in France.

The weekly rallies are organized by a group called the Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West, or Pegida. They often accuse mainstream media of lying about immigration and other issues.

Organizers of Monday's demonstration have asked participants to wear black ribbons to honor the victims of three days of terror in Paris that started with an attack on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

But Justice Minister Heiko Maas told newspaper Bild on Sunday that the rally should be canceled, saying it's "simply disgusting" that organizers want to commemorate victims "that last week they still insulted as lying journalists."

German Newspaper Attacked After Reprinting Charlie Hebdo Mohammed Cartoons

(Vairiety) A German newspaper was pelted with rocks and an incendiary device Sunday, according to published reports, just days after taking the controversial step to reprint multiple cartoons from Charlie Hebdo magazine that depicted the prophet Mohammed.

Hamburger Morgenpost, a newspaper based in the German city of Hamburg, sustained damage but no one inside was hurt. A fire spread through two rooms by the incendiary device consumed some of the newspaper’s archives, but was extinguished.

Two individuals were detained by German police but it is unclear yet whether the attack was even related to the Charlie Hebdo cartoons. But Morgenpost reprinted the cartoons the previous week under the headline, “This much freedom must be possible.”

Reprinting the cartoons has emerged as a subject of debate for many publications around the globe since the murder of 17 people in Charlie Hebdo’s Paris office. The two attackers have since been killed in a standoff with French police, according to CNN.

Leaked Al Jazeera emails reveal disdain for Paris murder victims

(Fox News) While citizens around the free world embraced the mantra “Je suis Charlie” to show solidarity with the murdered employees of a French satirical magazine, a top editor at a Muslim-owned news organization had a different message for his colleagues: “We are Al Jazeera.”

A leaked email from Al Jazeera English Editor and Executive Producer Salah-Aldeen Khadr used the twist on a viral phrase used around the world to show support for victims of Wednesday’s Islamist terror attack on Charlie Hebdow in Paris. The magazine was targeted for its penchant for publishing forbidden caricatures of Prophet Muhammed, which it did in addition to poking fun at other religions.

“Was this really an attack on “free speech?” Khadr asked his subordinates in the email blast. “Who is attacking free speech here exactly?

“Defending freedom of expression in the face of oppression is one thing; insisting on the right to be obnoxious and offensive just because you can is infantile,” wrote Khadr, who urged Al Jazeera staffers to consider that “I am Charlie” is an “alienating slogan – with us or against us type of statement – one can be anti-CH’s racism and ALSO against murdering people.”

The email, first obtained by National Review Online, appears to have touched off a vigorous debate among editorial employees of the Qatar-owned outlet, which has often been accused of showing sympathy to Muslim extremists.

Al Jazeera English channel reporter Omar Al Saleh responded with an obligatory condemnation of the killings of 12 people, including four well-known cartoonists, in the attack, but made his real point in all capital letters, for extra emphasis.

“I AM NOT CHARLIE,” Saleh wrote. “JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME. INSULTISM IS NOT JOURNALISM AND NOT DOING JOURNALISM PROPERLY IS CRIME.”

But Al Jazeera’s U.S. correspondent Tom Ackerman disagreed, in another portion of the leaked email chain.

“If a large enough group of someone is willing to kill you for saying something, then it’s something that almost certainly needs to be said, because otherwise the violent have veto power over liberal civilization,” Ackerman wrote. “When offenses are policed by murder, that’s when we need more of them, not less, because the murderers cannot be allowed for a single moment to think that their strategy can succeed.

Al Jazeera, whose headquarters are in Doha, also has international offices in London and New York. It received a U.S. license and began broadcasting in August 2013 under its Al Jazeera America brand. On its mission statement the company outlines its values saying, “We maintain credibility through impartial, accurate and comprehensive representation of the story,” and adds, “Integrity and respect guide our conduct internally and externally.”

The company is Al Jazeera is owned and funded by Qatar’s ruling Al Thani family, whose regime has been accused of financing radical Islamist terror groups in the Middle East, most notably Hamas in Gaza and the Al Nusra Front in Syria.

Reached for comment about the internal debate, an Al Jazeera spokesman said such discussions are part of the reporting process.

“We have arguably the most diverse newsroom in the world, and the robustness of our internal discussions that flow from this are a great strength,” the spokesman said. “Viewers judge us on our output, which on the Paris story has been first class, relaying events in real time, all the while providing a full spectrum of context.”

The spokesman also added that Khadr is one of several executive producers at the organization and his opinions do not necessarily reflect those of Al Jazeera

Muslim terrorism: Suicide bombing in Lebanon kills 7, wounds more than 30

BEIRUT (AP) — A suicide bombing struck a coffee shop Saturday night in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, killing at least seven people and wounding more than 30, security officials and the Red Cross said.

Syria's al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front claimed responsibility on Twitter for the blast in Tripoli's predominantly Alawite neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen, saying it was a twin suicide attack.

Meanwhile on the other side of the Atlantic, Obama declares war on the GOP.
PARIS (NYT) — Prime Minister Manuel Valls declared Saturday that France was at war with radical Islam after the harrowing sieges that led to the deaths of three gunmen and four hostages the day before. New details emerged about the bloody final confrontations, and security forces remained on high alert.

“It is a war against terrorism, against jihadism, against radical Islam, against everything that is aimed at breaking fraternity, freedom, solidarity,” Mr. Valls said during a speech in Évry, south of Paris.

Muslim terrorism: Boko Haram sends in 10-year-old girl suicide bomber who kills 20 people

DAKAR, Senegal (NYT) — A girl perhaps no more than 10 years old detonated powerful explosives concealed under her veil at a crowded northern Nigeria market on Saturday, killing as many as 20 people and wounding many more.

The blast inflicted devastating damage on shoppers at the Monday Market in Maiduguri, the shopping hub in a city that is at the heart of the Boko Haram insurgency. The explosion, witnessed by dozens of people, represented a new tactic in the Islamists’ campaign with their decision to use perhaps their youngest-ever suicide bomber. [...]

“It’s a little girl,” said the hospital official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the delicacy of his position. “The body is beyond recognition, but from the face you can see it’s a young person. A young pretty girl.”

Muslim terrorism: Hamas kind of condemns Charlie Hebdo attack, then publishes image praising the 3 killed Paris terrorists

#Islam.
(Ynet) Hamas has condemned the attack led by two French jihadists against the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which killed 12 people in Paris, the group said in statement published in French, but fell short of condemning the deadly attack on a Jewish supermarket that left four dead.

Hamas "condemns the attacks against the Charlie Hebdo magazine and insists that the difference of opinions and thoughts cannot justify murder," the statement said.

The terror group also responds to accusations by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who recently said that France, Israel and the "civilized countries" all faced the same threat. "These terrorists that killed journalists in Paris, they (...) launch rockets at civilians from Gaza," Netanyahu said, drawing a link between ISIS and Hamas.

In response, the Gaza terror group said that "Hamas condemns the desperate attempts of Prime Minister Netanyahu to link our movement on the one side, and terrorism throughout the world on the other side (...) These miserable attempts are doomed to fail, " the statement said.

The group however failed to condemn the murder of a French police officer or the the killing of four hostages at a kosher supermarket in Paris, which French President Francois Hollande on denounced Friday as "an appalling anti-Semitic act."

French imams try to BS the public by pretending to rail against 'crazies who have seized our religion'

Paris (AFP) - French imams condemned violence committed in the name of Islam during Friday prayers as the country reeled from the double hostage dramas that followed the massacre at Charlie Hebdo magazine.

The same message -- distancing the country's five million Muslims from the jihadists responsible for the attacks -- was relayed at more than 2,300 mosques across France.

"We denounce the odious crimes committed by the terrorists, whose criminal action endangers our willingness to live together," said the rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris, Dalil Boubakeur.

He also appealed to "all the Muslims of France" to take part in demonstrations planned for Sunday to pay homage to the 12 victims of the attack on Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday, the bloodiest in France in more than half a century.

In local mosques across the country, imams condemned the jihadists who claimed they were avenging the Prophet Mohammed by shooting dead some of France's best-known cartoonists at the satirical weekly.

Charlie Hebdo had angered many Muslims by repeatedly publishing cartoons that featured the Prophet as it lampooned Islamist extremists.

Muslim groups had taken the magazine to court over the drawings but had lost.

"The people who carried out that attack in the name of Islam are not Muslims... The Prophet did not advocate violence against non-Muslims," Abdel Qader Achour, of the conservative Omar Ibn Al Khattab mosque not far from Charlie Hebdo's offices, insisted.

"France is our country, we have been here for three or even four generations, and we should not be afraid," he said as around one thousand of the faithful gathered to pray.

"To a cartoon you reply with a cartoon, to a drawing with a drawing, to a newspaper article with a newspaper article... But you don't reply with guns," said Mustafa Riad of the Union mosque in the southern city of Montpellier.

Muslim theologian Tareq Oubrou, an imam in Bordeaux, in the southwest, said Muslims were furious that their religion had been "confiscated by crazies... and uneducated, unbalanced people".

'Human carnage': Nigeria massacre deadliest in history of Boko Haram, Amnesty International says

#Islam.
YOLA, Nigeria (AP) — Hundreds of bodies — too many to count — remain strewn in the bush in Nigeria from an Islamic extremist attack that Amnesty International suggested Friday is the "deadliest massacre" in the history of Boko Haram.

Mike Omeri, the government spokesman on the insurgency, said fighting continued Friday for Baga, a town on the border with Chad where insurgents seized a key military base on Jan. 3 and attacked again on Wednesday.

"Security forces have responded rapidly, and have deployed significant military assets and conducted airstrikes against militant targets," Omeri said in a statement.

District head Baba Abba Hassan said most victims are children, women and elderly people who could not run fast enough when insurgents drove into Baga, firing rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles on town residents.

"The human carnage perpetrated by Boko Haram terrorists in Baga was enormous," Muhammad Abba Gava, a spokesman for poorly armed civilians in a defense group that fights Boko Haram, told The Associated Press.

He said the civilian fighters gave up on trying to count all the bodies. "No one could attend to the corpses and even the seriously injured ones who may have died by now," Gava said.

An Amnesty International statement said there are reports the town was razed and as many as 2,000 people killed.

If true, "this marks a disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram's ongoing onslaught," said Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International.

The previous bloodiest day in the uprising involved soldiers gunning down unarmed detainees freed in a March 14, 2014, attack on Giwa military barracks in Maiduguri city. Amnesty said then that satellite imagery indicated more than 600 people were killed that day.

The 5-year insurgency killed more than 10,000 people last year alone, according to the Washington-based Council on Foreign Relations. More than a million people are displaced inside Nigeria and hundreds of thousands have fled across its borders into Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria.

Emergency workers said this week they are having a hard time coping with scores of children separated from their parents in the chaos of Boko Haram's increasingly frequent and deadly attacks.

Just seven children have been reunited with parents in Yola, capital of Adamawa state, where about 140 others have no idea if their families are alive or dead, said Sa'ad Bello, the coordinator of five refugee camps in Yola.

He said he was optimistic that more reunions will come as residents return to towns that the military has retaken from extremists in recent weeks.

Suleiman Dauda, 12, said he ran into the bushes with neighbors when extremists attacked his village, Askira Uba, near Yola last year.

"I saw them kill my father, they slaughtered him like a ram. And up until now I don't know where my mother is," he told The Associated Press at Daware refugee camp in Yola.

Saudi man ordered to leave US over Texas army base incident

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) A Saudi national who prompted a four-hour lockdown at a US Army post in Texas in November when he claimed to have a bomb in his car pleaded guilty to two federal charges on Thursday and agreed to leave the country in a deal to avoid more prison time.

US District Judge Fred Biery agreed not to sentence Mutasim Abdul-Aziz Alati, 24, to prison on condition he leave immediately and not return for the rest of his life.

This was part of a plea bargain that gave him credit for time served. Alati has been in custody since the Nov. 23 incident.

"The only thing you have to do to stay out of trouble in the US is to stay out of the US," Biery told Alati during a hearing on Thursday.

Assistant US Attorney Sarah Wannarka told Biery that, as soon as his family in Saudi Arabia buys him a one-way ticket, Alati will be escorted to the airport and put onto a plane by an FBI agent.

Alati could have faced two years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges of evading authorities and illegally entering military property.

Prosecutors say Alati showed up at the main entrance to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and told military police he had a bomb in his vehicle. This prompted a high-speed chase through the post, located in San Antonio.

He was apprehended and no bomb was found in the car.

Alati told the court he was "stressed out" by tests he was taking at the time at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

"I was suspicious of all of the people around me," he told the judge.

Muslim terrorism: Charlie Hebdo shooters take hostages at printing plant, tell negotiators they "want to die as martyrs"

DAMMARTIN-EN-GOELE, France (AP) -- French security forces struggled with two rapidly developing hostage-taking situations Friday, one northeast of Paris where two terror suspects were holed up with a hostage in a printing plant and the other an attack on a kosher market in Paris.

The two brothers suspected in a deadly terror attack Wednesday were cornered by police Friday inside a printing house in the small industrial town of Dammartin-en-Goele. One lawmaker said they told negotiators they "want to die as martyrs."

Hours later, a gunman seized an unknown number of hostages at a kosher market in eastern Paris, France's anti-terrorism prosecutor said. A police official, who was not authorized to speak to the media about the events, told The Associated Press there were several hostages and wounded in the kosher market.

Police SWAT squads descended on the area near Paris' Porte de Vincennes neighborhood and France's top security official rushed to the scene. The attack came before sundown when the market would have been crowded with shoppers.

France has been high alert for other attacks since the country's worst terror attack in decades — the massacre Wednesday in Paris that left 12 people dead at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. But French officials could not confirm reports of a link between the hostage-taker at the kosher market Friday and the two suspects holed up at the printing house.

French security forces had poured into Dammartin-en-Goele near Charles de Gaulle airport after the two terror suspects hijacked a car early Friday in a nearby town.

One of the men had been convicted of terrorism charges in 2008, the other had visited Yemen. A U.S. official said both brothers — 32-year-old Cherif Kouachi and 34-year-old Said Kouachi — were on the American no-fly list.

"They said they want to die as martyrs," Yves Albarello, a local lawmaker who said he was inside the command post, told French television station i-Tele.

At least three helicopters hovered over the town, and authorities appealed for residents to stay inside. Charles de Gaulle closed two runways to arrivals to avoid interfering in the standoff, an airport spokesman said.

Authorities evacuated a school near the CTF Creation Tendance Decouverte printing plant around midday Friday after the suspects agreed by phone to allow the children safe passage, town spokeswoman Audrey Taupenas told The Associated Press. About an hour later, an AP reporter counted nine large, empty buses headed toward the area, apparently to evacuate the children.

Taupenas said there appeared to be one hostage, a number confirmed by a police official on the scene who was not allowed to discuss the operation.

A man who said he had his car stolen early Friday told Europe 1 the first man who approached him was armed with machine gun and the second man had a gun "with a kind of grenade at the end."

Tens of thousands of French security forces have mobilized to prevent a new terror attack since the assault on Charlie Hebdo, which decimated its editorial staff, including the chief editor who had been under armed guard after receiving death threats for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. He and his police bodyguard were the first to die, witnesses said.

Cherif and Said Kouachi were named as the chief suspects after Said's identity card was left behind in their abandoned getaway car. Prime Minister Manuel Valls has said both suspects had been known to intelligence services before the attack.

Louis Zenon, a 14-year-old who lives close to siege site, watched as helicopters hovered over closed-off industrial area.

"There is a lot of fear," he said, adding everyone he knew was staying home with their doors and shutters closed. "We're scared. The schools are being evacuated."

Muslim Terrorism: Kosher Supermarket Attacked in Paris, Women and Children Taken Hostages, 2 Killed

(JP) A kosher supermarket, the HyperCacher, in eastern Paris has been attacked by two armed men, there are reports that at least 5 women and children are being held hostage inside the store, and at least two people have been killed.

Jewish sources in France say there may be as many as 16 hostages, and not all are women and children, contrary to earlier reports.

This attack is a separate incident from the ongoing hostage situation with the Charlie Hebdo terrorists.

It is now confirmed that at least one gunman was part of the shooting attack on Thursday that left a French policewoman dead, and part of the same Jihadi cell as Said and Cherif Kouachi from the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

The following have been identified as the terrorists in the supermarket:

HyperCacher is a chain of kosher supermarkets in France.

Egyptian military doubling buffer zone with Gaza, demolishing nearly 1,220 more homes

Egypt to completely raze Rafah for buffer zone with Gaza Strip.
El-Arish, Egypt (AP) – Egyptian military officials say the army has begun doubling the size of a buffer zone along the Gaza border, an operation that will involve the destruction of 1,220 homes and the eviction of residents.

The operation will expand the existing 500m buffer zone created last November to a full kilometer (0.6 mile), a move meant to halt the passage of weapons and militants. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to journalists, expect to complete the expansion by the middle of next week.

The forced evictions are displacing a population with longstanding grievances against the government of Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi. The northern Sinai Peninsula has become a hub for Islamic extremists, and security forces in the area face regular deadly attacks.

Al-Sisi: 1.6 Billion Muslims Antagonizing the Entire World

In unusual speech, Egyptian leader tells clerics Islam has become 'a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction' for humanity.
(INN) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi delivered a highly unusual and surprising speech to Islamic clerics at Cairo's Al-Azhar University last week, and a translated version has been uploaded to the internet.

“It’s inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma (multinational community of Muslim believers) to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world,” Sisi declaimed. “Impossible!”

“That thinking – I am not saying ‘religion’ but ‘thinking’ – that corpus of texts and ideas that we have sacralized over the years, to the point that departing from them has become almost impossible, is antagonizing the entire world. It’s antagonizing the entire world!

“Is it possible that 1.6 billion [Muslims] should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants – that is 7 billion – so that they themselves may live? Impossible!…

“I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. The entire world, I say it again, the entire world is waiting for your next move…because this umma is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost – and it is being lost by our own hands," said Sisi.

Two out of Every Three Germans See Islam as a Threat

Merkel calls for tolerance after poll shows 61% say Islam doesn't belong in West; anti-immigration group says Paris attack justifies stance.

Yeah, that's the problem, not enough tolerance.

Or, Germans are growing weary of "multiculturalism" and "diversity" that benefits only Muslims.
(INN) German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued a fresh call for tolerance Thursday, as a poll showed a growing majority of Germans see Islam as a threat and an anti-immigrant group said the Paris massacre the day before underscored its stance.

In a survey conducted several weeks before Wednesday's killing of 12 people by Islamist gunmen at a French satirical paper, 61% of non-Muslim Germans said Islam had no place in the West.

The figure was up from 52% in 2012, according to the study released by the Bertelsmann Foundation think tank.

In findings that suggested deep anxiety about Muslims in Europe's top economy, more than half - 57% - said they felt threatened by Islam, four points higher than in 2012.

Forty percent said they felt like "foreigners in their own country" because of the rapidly growing presence of Muslims, while one in four (24%) said that Muslims should be barred from migrating to Germany.

Asked about relations between Muslims and non-Muslims in the wake of the Paris rampage, Merkel, who condemned the attack as "despicable," sought to address the growing apprehension around the country's large Muslim population.

"We have very good ties with the vast majority of Muslims in Germany. All have been clear in their statements on terrorist attacks," she said.

She acknowledged that there were also "unfortunately some individuals in Germany" who had "joined the jihadists" and said the country must maintain existing security measures.

ISIS beheads Syrian imam for 'insulting God'

Chop-chop news.
BEIRUT: ISIS beheaded a Syrian imam Thursday for "insulting God," an activist group said.

"The IS executed the imam of a mosque from the village of Abu Khuyut near Hasakeh city [in northeastern Syria] at dawn Thursday," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, using an alternative name for the group.

The Britain-based Observatory added that three of the man’s sons were ISIS fighters, and that it was the first time the jihadis executed a religious official for this reason.

The man was detained after watching a video on executions carried out by ISIS and cursing because God had permitted them, Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

ISIS carries out near-daily executions in the territories of Syria and Iraq that it controls.

Originating in Iraq, it appeared in Syria's civil war in spring 2013, and has since committed some of the conflict's worst abuses.

Jihad comes to Ohio

(NYDN) A 41-year-old Ohio man armed with several knives tried to buy a plane ticket with a fake ID before being gunned down by police after lunging at an officer with a blade outside the Columbus airport, police said.

Hashim Hanif Ibn Abdul-Rasheed had parked illegally outside the ticketing terminal and was acting bizarrely as he tried to buy a ticket to an undisclosed location Wednesday afternoon. He showed off a woman’s ID to try and make the buy at one point before he was rebuffed, cops said.

Airport police called a tow truck to remove the illegally parked vehicle from the departures lane just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when Abdul-Rasheed returned.

“The man initially spoke with the officer then suddenly produced a knife and lunged at the officer, attempting to stab him,” the Port Columbus International Airport said in a statement. “The officer fired at the suspect, who momentarily dropped to the ground and then got back up and continued advancing towards the officer. A backup officer responded at which point the suspect quickly moved towards him with the knife forcing the officer to retreat backwards towards the terminal entrance where a third officer was positioned. The third officer shot multiple times, striking the suspect, ending the attack.”

When cops searched Abdul-Rasheed’s body, they discovered “additional knives.” Police called in a bomb squad to investigate the car and a search turned up “suspicious items,” officials said.

The entire incident was captured on surveillance video, police said. The shooting remains under investigation.

2000 Dead in Nigeria Yesterday in Boko Haram Jihadist Attack

(BBC) Nigeria's militant Islamists have carried out a second attack on the key north-eastern town of Baga, an official has told the BBC.

Boko Haram fighters burnt down almost the entire town on Wednesday, after over-running a military base on Saturday, Musa Alhaji Bukar said.

Bodies lay strewn on Baga's streets, amid fears that some 2,000 people had been killed in the raids, he added.

Boko Haram launched a military campaign in 2009 to create an Islamic state.

It has taken control of many towns and villages in north-eastern Nigeria in the last year.

The conflict has displaced at least 1.5 million people, while more than 2,000 were killed last year.

Another 'North African wielding rifle' jihadist arrested in Paris after female police officer was shot dead

Hunt for 2 Muslim terrorists in French shooting that killed 12; 1 surrenders

Cherif, left, and Said Kouachi
PARIS (AP) — French police hunted Thursday for two heavily armed men — one with a terrorism conviction and a history in jihadi networks — in the methodical killing of 12 people at a satirical newspaper that caricatured the Prophet Muhammad. The prime minister announced several overnight arrests and said the possibility of a new attack "is our main concern."

Tensions in Paris were high as France began a day of national mourning. The most senior security official abandoned a top-level meeting after just 10 minutes to rush to a shooting on the city's southern edge. A policewoman died and a street sweeper was wounded. The shooter remained at large.

It was not immediately clear if that shooting was linked to the attack the previous day on the newspaper Charlie Hebdo, where two police were among the dead.

France's prime minister, Manuel Valls, said the two suspects in the Charlie Hebdo shootings were known to intelligence services, and the fear that they could carry out another attack "is our main concern." Valls told RTL radio there had been several arrests overnight; a security official put the arrest total at seven, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

Valls said the suspects were likely being tracked by intelligence services, but "there is no such thing as zero risk."

Fears have run high in Europe that jihadis trained in warfare abroad would stage attacks at home. The French suspect in a deadly attack on a Jewish museum in Belgium had returned from fighting with extremists in Syria; and the man who rampaged in the south of France in 2012, killing three soldiers and four people at a Jewish school in Toulouse, received paramilitary training in Pakistan.

"France has been struck directly in the heart of its capital, in a place where the spirit of liberty — and thus of resistance — breathed freely," President Francois Hollande said Thursday. The attack took place nearly midway between France's Bastille and the enormous Republique plaza.

One of the Charlie Hebdo suspects, Cherif Kouachi, was convicted of terrorism in 2008 for involvement in a network sending radical fighters to Iraq. He and his brother, Said, should be considered "armed and dangerous," French police said in a bulletin early Thursday, appealing for witnesses after a fruitless search in the city of Reims, in French Champagne country.

A third man, Mourad Hamyd, 18, surrendered at a police station in a small town in the eastern region after learning his name was linked to the attacks in the news and social media, said Paris prosecutor's spokeswoman Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre. She did not specify his relationship to the Kouachi brothers.

Senior CNN International Correspondent Jim Clancy in Bizarre Anti-Israel Tirade after Paris Attack

(INN) CNN's veteran news anchor and international correspondent Jim Clancy has provoked controversy after a series of bizarre anti-Israel tweets following Wednesday's deadly terrorist attack in Paris.

Journalists throughout the world and from across the political spectrum reacted with horror at the slaughter of 12 people at Charlie Hebdo's Paris offices yesterday. The satirical magazine was targeted by Muslim extremists wielding Kalashnikov rifles, after years of threats and previous attacks by Islamists over several cartoons it published which mocked Islam and Muslim leaders - in addition to countless others mocking other religious and secular figures.

Clancy, however, took exception to the claim that the magazine was attacked for insulting Islam, claiming instead that "The cartoons NEVER mocked the Prophet. They mocked how the COWARDS tried to distort his word."

A debatable position perhaps, given that some of its cartoons do indeed appear to directly mock Mohammed - and the fact that any representation of him whatsoever, in any context, is deemed "offensive" under Islamic law.

And indeed, several of his followers did in fact debate that point - but were then attacked as being pro-Israel, despite not having brought Israel up at all.

Various other responses were similarly aggressively rebuffed as "Hasbara"; Clancy's trigger-happy usage of the term even led him to similarly tweet that a virulently anti-Semitic neo-Nazi account was involved with "PR for Israel".

Several of his followers reacted with shock at his response, with some calling into question his objectivity as a journalist who frequently reports from the Middle East.

Following a hail of criticism, the CNN correspondent remained unrepentant though:

Subsequent to those posts, the CNN man subsequently retweeted of a quote by radical leftist Noam Chomsky which read: "Radical Islamic fundamentalists have been Washington’s most valued allies in the Middle East for 75 years."

French authorities meanwhile are still searching for the two shooters in the Paris attack, after the man believed to have acted as their getaway driver - 18-year-old Hamyd Mourad - handed himself in voluntarily after being publicly named as a suspect.

The remaining suspects, brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi, both in their 30s, are still at large.

Paris gumen identified

Greta Berlin hardest hit:

Europe’s Islam Problem

(NRO) European governments have become practiced at pretending that their country has no problems with Muslims. The official line, endlessly repeated, is that Islam is a religion of peace, and therefore some other explanation has to be found for the ever-increasing acts of terror. This is a sure-fire way to arouse the anti-Muslim backlash it is intended to prevent.

France has a Muslim population of at least 6 million. Tension between Muslims and French natives is a fact of life, and liable to flare up on any pretext. One special ritual involves Muslims setting fire to cars and trucks and across France — on New Year’s Eve, they torched 1,067. Appearing not to notice, let alone react, the authorities are surprised to be held in even greater contempt. French jihadis have shot dead schoolchildren on one occasion, and tourists on another. Twelve people have now been murdered in the jihadi attack in Paris on the magazine Charlie Hebdo. Disguised as an issue of free speech, this is in fact a declaration of war.

Second only to France, Germany has an estimated 4.3 million Muslims. Treatment of minorities is a sore subject there, and Germans at all levels have gone out of their way to show good will. In 2010, Thilo Sarrazin, a cast-iron member of the establishment, published a book whose title can be translated as “Germany Is Deconstructing Itself,” in which he makes the flat statement that Muslim immigration has been “a gigantic mistake.” He has been ostracized but his book has sold 2 million copies. And the dam around the subject has burst.

A protest movement known as “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West,” or Pegida in its German acronym, has put thousands of supporters on to the streets in Dresden, Cologne, Stuttgart, and other cities. Counter-demonstrations immediately mobilized. From Chancellor Angela Merkel down, the authorities are obviously terrified in case this proves a popular cause, and do their utmost to compare Pegida with Nazism.

Five hundred fifty is the figure given for Muslims who have left Germany to fight for the Islamic State. About 160 are thought to have been killed in action in Syria and Iraq, and some 300 are said to have returned, been arrested, and imprisoned awaiting trial. Jürgen Todenhöfer is another cast-iron member of the establishment. Aged 74, a journalist and sometime member of parliament, he is the first Westerner to have been allowed into the territory captured and held by Islamic State. They plan mass genocide for everybody of other religions or none, and he comes to the conclusion, “The West has no conception of the threat it faces.”
