Swedish police prepares massive operation to enter Malmö Muslim migrant camp

Hundreds of policemen from all over southern Sweden are bracing for an operation to enter a migrant camp in Malmö housing almost 400 people.
(Sveriges Radio) According to local newspaper Sydsvenskan, at least 160 officers will participate in the operation, which is expected to take place on a weekday afternoon in the coming weeks.

Policemen from Kalmar, Blekinge and Kronobergslän are expected to join their colleagues from all over Skåne in Malmö.

Malmö police operations head Mats Karlsson says the owner of the land where the migrants have set up camp reported the incident last April.

"We didn't have enough resources for an operation this summer due to all the explosions and shootings in Malmö. And after the summer, the refugee wave started," he tells Sydsvenskan.

Karlsson refuses to define their task as "clearing the camp".

"That's not our duty. We're going to launch an investigation about a breaking and entering case. If we confirm that is the case, we'll stop it. Then, the result can be that we clear the camp," he says.
