Israeli media reveals Obama threatened Netanyahu with abandonment at the UN

He'd like Israel better if they hung some gays and had a few beheadings.
(WJD) In a shocking but not surprising development, the Israeli media is reporting that U.S. President Barack Obama openly threatened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with abandonment at the U.N. Security Council.

This would mean breaking a long diplomatic alliance between the U.S. and the Jewish state at the international body. America has regularly used its veto power in order block the many racist anti-Israeli resolutions brought before the U.N.S.C.

The reporter who broke the story, Ariel Kahana, told Algemeiner,
The prime minister told colleagues in recent days … that his office’s understanding of the issue and the government’s take on it is that the Americans will not cast a veto against a resolution that reaches the Security Council.
Kahana believes the threat is part of a planned diplomatic vendetta against Netanyahu and Israel, which is being conceived and executed at the highest levels of government.

The vendetta is also, Kahana believes, in keeping with President Obama's shockingly reckless foreign policy, which seems dedicated to abandoning U.S. allies and wooing its enemies.

"This is a precedent and a very dangerous step," he said.
Beyond the abandonment of Israel, it also flies in the face of previous agreements with the Americans, including vis a vis the Egyptian peace deal in which the US would hold the line against such maneuvers. The point is that one can’t trust anything the US says anymore, if the information is accurate. If the US is able to betray Israel like this – what do other allies and foes think?
Israeli officials are apparently concerned about recent attempts by the Palestinians to bring a resolution before the U.N.S.C. that would call for an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank within two years.

Unlike the General Assembly, Security Council resolutions are binding upon member states, meaning that the price Israel would have to pay for refusing to withdraw would be high.

Nonetheless, Netayahu's government believes such a withdrawal would compromise Israel's security, and they may well be prepared to pay a very heavy price in order to defy Obama's attempt to press his anti-Israel agenda on this issue.
